I am a little confused of the articles posted here on Shojo Beat from other sources. The most recent which is from a Japanese website says:
| Quote: | | Prior to the official August launch of Shojo Beat, Viz will release Shojo Beat Issue 0 for free in April. Of the six manga series serialized in Shojo Beat, 2 are from Viz co-investor Shueisha, and 2 more are from co-investor Shogakukan, the remaining two titles are from Hakusensha |
But, nothing was released in August here in the states so that refers to elsewhere correct?
Then the first article relating to Shojo Beat posted here in ANN from other source says it will be relased in June and the other says it the prices for it and such details. So how does all this actually work out?

It's going to be released this August, it wasn't referring to last August.

Yes, I know. What I actually meant is if the free first issue is for here in the states or not when it comes out. If yes, then where will they be giving them away?

I dont know so I cant help you there but I remember one time a while back some company released some kind of comic/manga or sampler for free at most comic book shops. Its possible they will be given away at places where they will be sold later on

Don't get your hopes up too much about issue 0. They're usually less than 32 pages with only a very few pages (2-4) of translated manga. (It could be better, but this is what I've seen from previous Issue 0 releases.) It's really to get advertisers, distributors and store owners interested in carrying the magazine. The fact that they can print a bunch of copies and get fans worked up about it too is just a bonus.
The sure way to get issue 0 is to sign up on the Viz website (go to viz.com and follow the links to Shojo Beat), or if you're at an anime/manga convention during or soon after they release it in April and Viz has a booth there, you'll probably be able to pick one up. It's possible that stores will get extra copies, but don't depend on it.

Thank for the help everyone.
I went to the website it doesn't mention the issue being given away, but I will sign up anyway.
