There seems to be a ton of new stuff just over the horizon (for me anyways), so here's my question: what series are you most looking forward to reading? Not nessisarily limited to licenced series, and please give reasons.
Beck-I somehow missed this when it was unlicenced despite all my friends raving about it, so I won't be making the same mistake in July when the first volume comes out. I liked the authors short about how the Red Hot Chili Peppers inspired the manga (which is good news because I'm a big fan), and everyone seems to be saying this is the best shonen manga is recent years, so what's not to be excited about? Monster-This is a long ways off and my enthusiasm is somewhat dulled since 20th Century Boys was supposed to come first (especially so since I probobly won't be reading any new 20thCB for over two years), but I'm still looking forward to re-reading this superb thriller come this fall. The Monkey King-The manga-ka's amazing art and the utterly bizarre take on Journey to the West are the biggest reasons I'm looking forward to this. Lady Snowblood-A pulpy Samurai revenge saga from the master, Kazuo Koike, is always reason to celebrate. Shojo Beat-Almost every manga in this anthology has caught my attention (Nana and Kaze Hikaru being the ones I'm most interested about), and all around it looks like the best Viz anthology since Pulp. Well, maybe not the articles in my case... Vinland Saga-Makoto "Planetes" Yukimura is already a work on this, and it should be interesting what he brings to this historical shonen tale. I'm hoping great characters and a more serious take than most shonen and judging by the art, those are strong possibilities. Hopefully someone will pick this up. |

Out of the blue I'd say Mai HiME, because I've only heard that it's either absolutely great (and even better than the anime) or that it's crap. That makes me curious!
I liked the cast from the first season (anime) and it doesn't look like they're coming back in the 2nd one (and the manga's dealing with the first cast, as far as I know). And because I'm such an optimistic person, I'm of course believing those who say it's the greatest manga ever! 
I'd really like to take a look at it, but I don't even know if it's going to be released in English...? Has anyone read some of it in Japanese yet? Otherwise, there isn't really anything upcoming I'd like to read. There are just sooo many older series I have to catch up with...

Beck - Great characters, a musical theme, wrestling moves, and references to legendary musicians make this a must have to the music fan in me. Love the expressions Sakuishi gives his characters.
Monster - Awesome thriller manga that reads even better a second time since there's just so much to take in the first time around. Sexy Voice and Robo - Truly an original story with unique art that needs to be supported so we can get more stuff like this over here. More Iou Kuroda please! Eden - Great manga with the sci-fi elements of Planetes with the bloody gore of GantZ. Awesome storytelling and a realisticly portrayed future make this an incredible manga I can't wait for. Crying Freeman - More Kazuo Koike please! Thanks  !
Blame! - A manga that tells its story through the art. With minimal dialogue surrounded by gorgeous buildings (afterall the mangaka did have a degree in architecture before becoming a mangaka) and a really unique sort of sketchy art style along with badass weapons and unique characters make this 10 volume classic a must have (though everyone on my list here I consider a must have ).
Ping Pong - Please bring over this classic by Taiyo Matsumoto that inspired a movie of the same name. More Matsumotooooo. |

I'm also looking forward to Bambi and Her Pink Gun, which ships in June 2005 from Digital Manga Publishing.

Pretty good topic dicussion.
I'm looking forward to 20th Century Boy the most. I'm not sure what happen, but it seem Viz is delaying the release for another time. With all the buzz surround this title, I can't wait to get it in my hands, especially since I stop so I can get a better experiece reading in the palm of my hands. I'll also be looking fowad to Monster Gantz. I've been watching the anime and it remind me how much I missed the awesomeness of the manga. The art, the fanservice, the raw human emotion, the coloful cast of players, the wrongful death, the scary villians...just everything about it. I really hope there's some news going down soon, it's one of my the most memorable manga by far. Basilisk, the anime looks promsing but I've heard bad things about the manga's art. I still want to check it out though, so hopefully Del Ray will bring it out soon. Blame: The art looks amazing, and I got a taste of Tsutomu's work on Wolverine Snikt. Never read this one, but it should be exciting. |

I have a question semi-related to this (sorry for diverging the topic). It seems I missed out on the Shojo Beat preview issue, but I have subscribed to it. What exactly was in the preview issue? Am I going to miss out on the first chapter of everything now because I didn't read it? |

I also didn't read it, but I believe that it just included a sample chapter of everything featured in the magazine, not the first chapter. I'm sure that every series will have a first chapter in SB#1, so you shouldn't be lost by buying it. |

It's more like sample pages, 5-6 for each series except I think Nana was a little longer, I haven't read the preview yet. |
