Maybe it's just me but I was wondering if anyone else has trouble finding specific manga volumes on Amazon.com? What I mean is lots of times when I try to find a particular title, like, let's say you're trying to find Inuyasha volume 14, when you go to their site and put in the title, they come up with about 25+ entries of the Inuyasha manga, but they don't have the volume numbers by most of them, if they even HAVE a listing! Most of their manga are treated this way, to the extent that I don't even order from them because you cannot find the volume number. I have written them many times to complain, but they wrote back that they can only post the information the publisher gives them. Well, Barnes and Noble.com does a very good job of keeping their manga organized and listing all the info you need next to each volume, including the volume number, so why can't Amazon? I get the sense that Amazon just has no respect for manga, and does not find it worth the trouble to list them correctly in their database. They do not see any difference between Battle Royale #1 or or #8 or #12. They are just different editions of volume #1 and the same book as far as they are concerned! Truly pathetic.

It all has to do with what they have in stock as well as what others put up for auction. Amazon could care less about what it is selling as long as it makes a profit (as seen by all the bootlegged anime they have on their site)

Amazon, when it comes to books, generally deals with, y'know... Books.
So series of books generally have a common subtitle, or a common title with different subtitles. So I'd say it's not a slight against manga, but a part of the system design which generally orks for books, but not for serialised graphic novels. |

Yeah, I had that probelm when I was using it. I would know when a new GTO volume would come out, no pre-orders. The week after it's out, still wasn't on the site. 2 months later, there it is, oh wait, that the Japanese verison. Some series they are better at keeping pre-orders up and stock full (Naruto, Maison Ikkoku), but it's the lesser knowns or not so high sellers they have probelms with. Atleast Right Stuf help with that probelm.

But even if the item is out of stock, they would list it. BTW, this is tha manga forum.
If you can't find a specific title, put the IBSN number on the search engine and it will get find that certain book for you. All licensed book have ISBN number. Here's the ISBN number for Inyasha 14:(1569318867). put this in the search box at amazon and it will show up to that title you want. Amazon operate at a huge level. They don't have time to go into all the little detail for every single title/toys/dvd/kitchen appliance/etc they recieve but they do fill out all the given detail from the publisher. A lot of website don't have volume number, even ecampus (my favorite site to buy manga online). It's not because they don't care, it's because certain people can't find what they're looking for themself and must rely on others. Heck, you have people having a hard time using google, so I'm not surpise. . Amazon isn't dissing manga. It has a whole section dedicated to manga, with new releases listed. I wonder why people come up with these ignorant assumption. They are a business after all. As for bootleg, it's because nobody is reporting the bootleg anime dvd by independent seller so amazon doesn't know if it's legit or not. Instead of whining about it, do your part and report them like I do on ebay. At least it got rid of some seller. Or maybe the anime companies themself should hire someone to pull down bootleg auction and site. If you're having trouble finding ISBN number, use campusi.com as a good reference tool. |

I doubt whether anybody looks up manga on Amazon using ISBN numbers. And I'm talking book information, not the latest version of a Garden Weasel. They should at least include volume numbers.

Amazon doesn't have a reason to be against manga, it probubly makes them millions of dollars.

Are you serious? Of course most casual shopper don't use ISBN. But if you're looking for a certain title (like you said about Inuyasha 14) then use the ISBN number. There are many people that search with ISBN on amazon if they want to find a certain edition. Just because you don't, doesn't mean nobody else does. Companies issue ISBN number for that perpose. Maybe you should start using it if you need to find a certain title because that's what they're for (very useful on ebay too). Learn something new? Maybe you should thank me instead of continue acting like a clown. Before you jump to more conclusion and say ISBN are useless and nobody will ever use them, you should have search Inu-yasha vol. 14. Like Isaid earlier most people don't know how to search for themself, and imput wrong data. The information they put up on their website are the information given to them from the company. And again, if you still think Amazon is trying their hardest to "diss" manga, you're wrong. Not sure what you're trying to prove.
LOL some people just don't think. And still manga is only a small portion of what they sell daily. |

You're just out and out rude, aren't you? Just calm down. It'll be ok. I actually took the clown thing as a compliment. I was just posting the fact that Amazon is totally unorganized when it comes to manga. I'm sorry if that struck a nerve with you. I hope I'll be forgiven in the afterlife. But I believe in a world where clowns and rude people can coexist. I'll hold on to that dream.

Amazon did get really weird last year about how it organizes the volumes of manga.
Chrono Crusade Volume 5 (Chrono Crusade) by Daisuke Moriyama, Amy Forsyth (Translator) (Paperback - June 6, 2005) (Rate this item) Other Editions: Paperback | Comic | See all (6) You have to look under the "other editions" part and click on "see all" to see the other volumes. You and I know that they are not other editions but other volumes. I don't know why amazon hasn't figured out this problem. I've also written and complained. |

Yay!!! Inuyasha!!! P.S I've heard a rumor that if all of Inuyasha's characters became bald, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Is this true? |

No, GTO, let's say, volume 23, was listed, after 3 or 4 after it came out. Naruto had pre-orders, and Maison Ikkoku titles a week later. I don't use the ISBN, outside of price hunting and genral name books (ie: school books). But for manga, just the title and volume number (Inuyasha, 14) will work. I don't even comment on the BTW part. |

i agree, amazon has absolutely no respect for manga. they just think it's another comic or stg, i bet! they should read a book before they judge! and using ISBN numbers would take longer wouldn't it? it's much easier using the series title and volume.

I had difficulties finding one of the Hellsing Manga's on Amazon. I located it by finding the ISBN on Dark Horse's web site, then found the volume by searching for the ISBN number on Amazon. The volume that I was looking for only had the Hellsing title in it and not the volume number, whereas the rest of them series had the title and volume number.
When I saw this, I used the suggestion box at the bottom of the page and select 'Product information is incorrect' and provided the details to them. They did update the listing and now the volume is included just the same as the rest of them. If you do find something wrong with a listing and point it out to them, they will correct it. It also may help someone else find the item. |
