Yeah, so much for us getting an anime sequel to Berserk. I do feel it's merited that it did so badly, there, considering that they kept dicking us around on it all these years. So I guess even the Japanese fans weren't buying the bait-and-switch.

When the Japanese movie market is demanding things like K-On, I think Berserk is doing just fine.

I'd be interested in hearing some of the opinions on that Kimi wa Pet film. I'm not sure how well that would translate into a single film, although I did enjoy the drama they made a good number of years ago.

I am also pissed about the Berserk bait and switch, since I disliked the anime enough to the point that finishing it was kind of hard for me to do.

For only 93 screens over the course of two days, US$6,395 per screen is a very respectable number.

Japanese anime fans aren't after big bulky heroes, with battles of blood and gore anymore. That 90's trend has gone in Japan and they have moved on to 'moe'.
Thankfully, most US and European anime fans still have sense.
The quicker they get this Beserk film released in these countries in some shape or form, the quicker they will see a greater return on their investment.
Until then, they will have to make do with these 'okay' returns.
