Hey, uh, just wanted to bring attention to the DVD release list on the Hellsing Ultimate (OAV) page. It's...kind of atrocious and full of duplicates. I am not sure they're supposed to be different releases or something, but they're really not indicated or differentiated all that well.
Just thought I'd point it out. |

It appears that the source of most of the confusion is Hellsing Ultimate's initial licensing by Geneon, and license rescue by FUNimation, plus the two (or three) different release types: regular, steelbook, and possibly steelbook + figure. That, and the fact that the releases are in sorted by which was edited most recently, and then alphabetically, and then by date, rather than purely alphabetically.
Edit: Which isn't to say that some clean up is not needed, but I'm having trouble figuring out what is correct and what needs fixing. |

Mmm. Hellsing Ultimate has a turbulent release history, doesn't it?
I'd say the first thing to do is to figure out which releases listed are Geneon and which are Funimation. I would imagine everything would come together again once that was established. |

No need to figure out which release is which company, they're already labelled as such.
I've corrected the issue with duplicate "limited editions" by listing the difference in the titles. Funimation essentially released 3 versions of every volume (Regular, Limited, Limited with book or figure), and Geneon 2 (Regular, Limited). So there are 3-5 different versions of each volume, nothing we can do about that. The data appears to be 100% correct now (very little needed to be corrected), so there's nothing any editor can or should do. I don't know why Geneon's volume 2 is last in the list. I've pointed that out to Dan. |

Ahh yes, that looks quite a bit better.

Why has only one version of one volume got a name?
For that matter, wasn't "Impure Souls" the name of the first volume of the TV series from ADV? None of the working store links give a volume name and I can't see one on the cover. |

ADV never released Hellsing :-p Impure Souls is actually the name of the AniManga that was released by Dark Horse. Maybe that name was associated with the OAV volume 1 from Funimation before it was released, can't be sure of that, but since it clearly isn't associated with the final product, I've removed it. |

They did here... I was talking about ADV UK's OOP library recently so that was the company on my mind.
It was the name of the first TV series volume (Dark Horse presumably used the same name to tie in or as some sort of licensing requirement). |
