They've confirmed both iOS and Android app, at least for know. It does seem a little odd to do two different apps. I don't know why they don't just do one an let you subscribe like Anime Network and CR's apps.
Plus, if you buy the app do you gain access to everything? Wouldn't that sort of defeat the purpose of buying a subscription anyway? This just seems a little odd way of doing it. Well, better late than never. |

Crunchyroll does both IOS and Android, but Viz Media stiffed the Android users with Shonen Jump Alpha. Android needs some love!

Well I hope it will work on my IPOD. Recently I haven't been watching a lot of the shows Funi has been streaming (CR has had a better selection and thankfully they've had an app for a long time).
But I would love to be able to watch One Piece on my Ipod at least. |

As long as the subscription rate is reasonable, I'm all for paying a monthly rate to be able to watch their vast library sans those annoying banner ads.

If its as any good as the Crunchyroll Android app then I will be using it regularly.
If its meh, I'll probably just wait a while until they can catch up with the Crunchyroll version. |

Good idea. Their lack of an iOS viewing option puts them at a competitive disadvantage with Anime Network. And I've definitely bought Sentai box sets after sampling shows with AN on iPad.

At least on Android 2.3, the stock Android browser is plenty good enough to access a web reader that has well-designed features for smaller screen devices. So its a shame that Viz designed their online web reader thinking that its 2005 and everyone accessing via the web has a desktop or a full-sized laptop. With well-designed web access, the Android app would still be appealing, but it would be the icing on the cake. Same thing general point goes for FUNimation ~ a well-designed touch.Funimation.com portal and they would have all bases covered at the outset, and people with smaller screen devices would not be locked out until/unless their system gets an app. Now, Funimation's rollout of their new site is a lot more recent than Viz's first rollout of their web reader, and given the market position of iPhones, Android phones, iPads, and Kindle Fires, it may well make sense to roll out the iOS and Android apps ASAP and then look to broaden device accessibility. Still, a good touch.Funimation.com portal would still make a good addition to the device support strategy.
Maybe we'll get a better idea next month ~ I've seen a number of Android apps with both free and premium versions, but I don't know the pro's and con's. Could be easier to get the paid app into some curated stores ~ but I'm not sure why a free app couldn't sync with a premium account like Crunchyroll and Netflix's free apps do. |

I wonder if this means they'll pull their content from Netflix or if they'll keep it up for people who might watch it there but not bother to get an app. I like being able to watch their shows on my TV. This would be great for new shows though. The CR app is fantastic on my iPad.
