We all have a list of our favorite anime series, the cutesy romantic
comedies, dark thrillers, giant mecha stomping stories and the like. This thread has nothing to do with those. The main purpose of this thread is to discuss which anime inspired you, how it inspired you, and what it inspired you to do. For example, the series Spiral: The melody of logic inspired me through it's emotional tone and thought-provoking mysteries to devote myself to volunteer work helping local law enforcement. |

For me, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is inspiring because of its hope and the transformation of the protagonist.

If I watch or read Bakuman, it usually makes me want to draw something. Not necessarily manga, just drawing generally.

For me I'd have to say it's Hanasaku Iroha, sure it has a bit of feminism, and I'm a dude; but still. It does not inspire me to do anything specifically, more like it inspires me to go out and do everything involved in living a life; study harder, try a new sport, get a part time job, ect ect.

My all time inspirational anime is Great Teacher Onizuka, and I doubt anything else will ever take its place. I'd like to say One Piece as well, but that one is reserved as a massive dose of hope.

Hikaru no Go. I tend to find things cumbersome easily, so when I veer off of a path leading to something I want to do in my life, it just helps for me to think of this series and I regain my focus and determination.

Well honestly for me there's many that I found inspirational, or had inspirational messages and themes. Narrowing it down to one would be rather impossible for me as I have found them inspirational for different things. I'll give a few examples. I'll keep them a bit vague so as to not spoil any of the shows actual plot details.
Kaleido Star - I found this one inspirational for the way Sora always tries her best. She never gives up on her hopes and dream no matter what anyone says to her. She keeps trying and trying and through most of it keeps a positive attitude. Plus she's nice to those around her who aren't exactly the nicest to her. Seeing her hard work pay off just made her effort all the more inspirational. Haibane Renmei - For me at it's core Haibane Renmei was about friendship and forgiveness really. You have Rakka, Reki, Hikari, Kuu and the others trying to find some sort of understanding. You get to see their bonds of friendship develop over time especially with Rakka and Reki. You'd have to be pretty cold to not be moved or find it inspirational how Rakka winds up helping Reki. Rurouni Kenshin - In Kenshin you have the main character, Kenshin, who does everything he can to fight for and protect those he cares about. He's trying to atone for his bloody past and will do anything, even sacrifice himself if needed, to protect those he comes to care for. Watching him try and find forgiveness and peace for his past actions while protecting those he has come to care for I found to be inspirational. To me I saw an underlining message of being able to find peace in yourself for mistakes you may have made in your past. Sure there's filler in the show as it is a shonen jump title but if you focus on the core of the show you see the serious side of it. I could list many many more but I think these 3 are a good start. Plus I don't want to list them all and bore people or take away their chance to mention the same title. |

Mine would be Honey and Clover. I love the characters of this anime. I love the innocence, the insecurity, the heartbreaks. But above all, I found Honey and Clover inspirational because most, if not all, of its characters had this feeling of being lost in the world, which I sometimes feel too. They worked around that negative emotion and lived their lives the way they wanted to.
That would have been my only answer, but I think I'll throw in Bunny Drop as well. The most inspiring thing I got from the anime would be the meaning of a family. I seldom see my family due to the fact that I live in a dormitory. Bunny Drop touched my heart in its simple portrayal of how family life is. |

Clannad After Story was not just the most emotionally gripping show I have seen (not just anime show, but any kind of show), but also inspiring.
The show made me think of my own family & relationships. It is a reminder that life can dish out cruel hardships, but it is our family & friendship bonds that carry us through the toughest hardships. |

I wasn't really inspired to a particular anime title, or find an anime title I personally find inspirational; but I find Range Murata inspirational.
If were to just focus on anime in general, then animes that depicts guns (fictional or real-world types), military, or weaponry. Animes like Black Lagoon, Golgo 13, Strike Witches, and Guslinger Girl, just to name a few, inspired me to make a anime magazine for that type of theme. If I were to pick one anime I find inspirational without any bias whatsoever would be Space Runneraway Ideon which could be the first of it's type that spurred the dark and twisted science fiction that some of us have known. There seems to have some dispute that Moblie Suit Gundam was the first one to do this, but I picked Ideon because I currently have attachments to Gundam. |

Fruits Basket
I admire Tohru's approach to life - concentrate on the positive things. It can be annoying at times when it's overly used, especially when her "body guards" all stress how positive she is in the situations she is given. Even though it's an anime, it's kind of sad and inspirational for a high school girl to act like everything is fine after she loses her parents and home then forced to live in a tent in the middle of the nowhere by herself. |

Clannad After Story for family and love through tragedy but also Angel Beats! for friendship and helping people realize their dreams. Theirs a bunch out there but those two stick out for me.
