for good series to watch, just take a gander through the top 10 best and worst anime thread. You will find an indepth reason why people like the anime. This would be the easiest way, then just to the encyclopedia and see exactly what the anime is about.

I started watching anime that was on animenfo.com's top 200. Then I became a fan of Kawasumi Ayako (She was Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi, Mahoro from Mahoromatic, Fuu from Samurai Champloo, a lot of main characters from popular anime and a lot of works in general) and watched most of her works. Then I started surfing around anidb.net and searched by whatever genre I felt like watching at the time.
Speaking of which, ANN needs a better "top xx". A top 10 is probably the only thing I could EASILY access. We need something like a top 100 or top 200, where more of a comprehensive list can be found, then go further by creating "top 100/200 by genre/directors/user recommended/etc". I hate how I have to rely on animenfo and anidb for easier access to compare anime by some category such as genre and come BACK to ANN to update my anime list because I found that ANN's animelist is the easiest to use. Anyway, I'd rather appreciate a comment on this by a moderator, assuming the moderator does some kind of work on the site also. It's been bothering me a lot. -_-;; |

I agree.
I still haven't found an effective way to find new animes... and once you've watched all/most of the mainstream animes... Making a thread for non-mainstream animes might work... the TOP 10 is redundant... considering it is based on personnal opinion... How many people have said Cowboy Bebop? Now, how many people have said Genshiken? in fact, i think i'll do that... later... |

Way, way, way more than those who have mentioned Ame to Shoujo to Watashi no Tegami, Other Worlds, Princess Arete, Victorian Romance Emma, or Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. |

<3 <3 <3 My already massive amount of respect for you has risen even higher (if that's possible). Way to promote one of the most beautiful films in recent times. (That goes for YKK too, of course, but you and abunai have pretty much hailed that title consistently since I became a member almost 2 years ago.) Also, for kin_flare, perhaps you can browse through the public lists to see what other users recommend. I know that abunai, dormcat and myself have updated "favorites" lists. I'm sure if you browse a little more you'll find others as well. |

Ah! Finally found it. I was wondering where this thread went and it just died out. I really do think what I said in my first reply deserves some attention and thought, seeing as how this thread died in about 3 days.
Also, are there any plans to update the information, especially pictures, for characters and not just seiyuu's? It's so annoying to search for an anime on both ANN and animenfo because I really like the pictures of characters offered by animenfo. |
