Hi people's, I am new to game as far as wanting to start a career in anime. I love anime, such as dbz, bleach, naruto, casshern sins, etc. And for years I've always wanted to be in the world of anime and get paid. Recently I have had the best anime idea to create my own anime. But the only thing is I do not know where and how to get started. I am recently taking classes art classes because I was thinking that I have to start with a manga project first, but I do not.have to go that route to get to the big screen. Please please please help, so my question is: In order to create my anime show what do I have to first to get this started right away? My anime idea is golden.

2 ways either produce it yourself or get the entire story fleshed out and go find sponsors.

Yes I know I do want to produce it myself. What I am asking is how to get started should I go get my bachelor's in computer animation or what?

So having my bachelor's in computer animation, should put me in the right position of creating my anime. Also, question, does anybody know if taking the course of drawing and creating manga should be done first or should I just jump straight to computer animation.

Well technically, assuming you're not from Japan, anything you make won't be "anime" as anime is just animation from Japan. Of course, that's not important. Anime is just a name. But it is probably a distinction you should understand if you're serious about working in the animation industry.
Anyway, what you need to do depends on what exactly you're looking to make. If we're just talking about a very rudimentary flash animation or something similar then it is plausible to just make it yourself. You don't really need any official certification (since there's nobody you need to convince that you're qualified) but professional training may indeed be a good idea. The main thing you want to take away from it though is the knowledge and skills you need to make your show. Wherever you get that knowledge, it doesn't really matter. Of course...this definitely won't let you create a real, professional looking, TV quality show. No matter how good you are, animation of that kind is just way too costly and time consuming to create on your own. Also, there's not really much money in such things. The only real way of monetizing your show is ad supported streaming and that is worth next to nothing in revenue even if you somehow end up being a major hit. It is basically safe to say that you won't be able to support yourself with this kind of thing. If you really want making animated shows to be your job that you can live on then you need to try and break into the American animation industry. Self production just isn't an option (unless you're ridiculously rich I suppose). That means two things: Firstly, you're gonna need qualifications. Obviously learning skills is also super important but if anyone is going to give you a job you're going to need some kind of official certification that says you are qualified. What those qualifications are will depend on what exactly you want to do. Animation is a collaborative effort that involves a lot of different people doing a lot of different things. If what you want to do is actually create your own show with your own ideas then pursuing a career as a writer would probably be best. The actual animation process isn't that relevant to what you want to be doing. Secondly, you need to accept that if you're going to do this, you're not going to be given anything close to creative control. Not right away especially. As a total newcomer, nobody is just going to hand you the resources you need to make whatever show you want no matter how "golden" your idea is. You're going to have to pay your dues. That means a lot of years working hard on other people's projects. Eventually, if you do well and prove yourself, you may get a shot at making a show of your own. Look, you need to understand that working in animation isn't easy and will take a hell of a lot of work. Just breaking into the business is hard. And even if you make a career out of it, you may well never get the chance to make the show you want to make. Of course, I'm by no means saying you shouldn't try. If it is really what you want then you should absolutely pursue it. You really need to understand what you're undertaking though. It is so not as simple as "get [x] degree, make my show". It is a massive undertaking. |

I do not know what else to tell you; you will have to precisely explain exactly just what it is that you do not understand. Maybe I misunderstood your question. EDIT: Also, read this. |

Read up on Makoto Shinkai. He is the poster child of the homebrew animator making it big.
