I'm currently looking for a new manga series to pick up and was hoping for some recommendations. I prefer anime/manga that has a lot of depth (an example of titles I enjoy and would enjoy titles similar to: my favorite anime of all time include Honey & Clover, Utena, and Monster). Shojo/josei titles would be preferred, although it is not entirely necessary.

Hmm....I think I'll reccomend Clover to you, a short series by Clamp; it's very unlike anything else they've ever done/are doing now. It's hard to decribe, but it definently holds depths, imo.

One thing to know about Clover however it that it is unfinished and has been on hiatus in Japan for several years now.

If you haven't checked out her work yet, I'd suggest Yuu Watase, she's an excellent mangaka and a fair number of her works have been translated into English, just check them out and see which story appeals to you most. CLAMP is also a good stand-by for recommendations, and I also really enjoy MARS by Fuyumi Soryo.

Is it truly unfinished? The last book leaves off more or less complete, and I've heard rumors that there was supposed to be a fifth volume, but the rumors seemed shady, it really doesn't seem as unfinished as, say, X. Rolling Eyes

Thanks. I've heard a lot of good things about Clover. Unfortunately, I've also heard that Tokyopop is discontinuing its reprinting of the series, so I would imagine that copies would be difficult to find.

If you look at CLAMP's website there is a listing of all the manga currently "in progress": http://www.clamp-net.com/database/index.html

Listed there are: X/1999, Clover, Legal Drug, Tsubasa RS, and XXXHolic.

Hm....there's a lot of good manga out there. Really, I have so many favorites that I couldn't name them all, but I'll give you names of some of the best. DN Angel is gaining popularity, with its handsome *cough* hot *cough* men, fantastic storyline, and the element of fantasy. Definitely my favorite. I also enjoy anything by CLAMP, and I really like Death Note. It's really a long storyline, but it also has elements of fantasy, hot guys, and a nice storyline to boot. And I'll wrap it up by recommending Fruits Basket, RurouniKenshin, and More Starlight to You Heart
