Alright I saw Ghost in the Shell season 1 for 40 bucks at Best Buy and i was wondering if it was worth the buy. Also I was wondering if any of you guys know a really good top notch anime set that was at a good price and had 15 episodes or more. Any such thing?

You saw the first season of Stand Alone Complex for only $40? I wasn't even aware there was a box set yet. Are you sure it wasn't just the special edition of Volume 1? There's a difference.

As for cheap box sets with at least 15 episodes, check around the internet for some nice ADV thinpaks. Most series are 13 episodes or more, so you can get a lot of viewing time out of these. Some sites to check out are http://www.rightstuf.com and http://www.animeonestop.com, although there are many others.

There's another thread here about cheap boxed sets; you may find some good information there. Also make sure to check this sticky for information about bootlegs--don't buy them. And yeah, I'm thinking that the GiTS for $40 is the Vol. 1 special edition...I wouldn't want you to make the same kind of dumb mistake I did when I bought the ROD Vol. 1 + LE Box, thinking that it was the complete collection. (That taught me do do research on ANN first, as it turned out that volumes 6 and 7 hadn't even been released at the time.)

You may have seen the Special Edition of Vol. 7 that comes with the collector's box for the whole series.

Basically, it's for those who have bought the whole series, and can buy the rest of the season and put it in the box.

There's:

Stratos 4-Which is a rather under-rated 13 episode science fiction series which starts out rather slow and liesurely but when the story starts man was it great. It was a blind buy of mine I was extremely happy with.

Serial Experiments Lain-This series is a serious mind trip, I really liked it personally. It can be found for about $40.

They'll no doubt release a box, but probably not a thinpak, as it seems like ADV is the only company doing that.

Ever heard of a little company named Geneon? From the top of my head I know they released thinpacks of Chobits, Gungrave and Last Exile. Bandai Ent. is more into selling the Brick Box Sets. Manga... well just has regular volumes bundled. Since it's a collaboration of Manga Ent. and Bandai Ent., it's not really clear which way, if any, they will go with the box set.

I'm actually waiting for the "Movies" of GITS SAC to be released, but that will probably never happen since it pretty much defeats the purpose of purchasing the individual volumes. Maybe in a couple of years.

Oh okay. Sorry if my previous post sounded rude. I didn't mean it to sound rude but I just didn't know how to phrase the sentence politely.

As for a 15+ episode box set at a really good price, your chances are pretty slim. Although FUNimation does have Blue Gender Complete Collection for around $40. It's one of my favorite series.
