He must be like the Charles Schulz of that area. All that love over one work. At least it's a fanastic piece of work.

I had to take the driver's license test (four times!) in that town. I must say it was surprising in a stress-relieving kind of way to cross Conan bridge (on foot) and see the statues.
The city that I live in (Sakaiminato) has many tributes to its local famous son, Shigeru Mizuki, author of GeGeGe-no-Kitaro. Museum, statues, the works. Of course, hardly anyone in the west has heard of Kitaro...
