Viz recently announced at a con (can't remember which one) that they're pursuing the rights to the first movie. If/when they get the rights, they'll dub the movie sometime early next year and make it available on DVD sometime in the summer. During this time they'll also try to put it on Adult Swim, who at AWA openly expressed interest in showing the "Inuyasha" movies. Finally, if sales of the first movie do well, they'll go after the second movie.

I don't think lack of popularity will be an issue in this case. They screened the second movie at AWA this year, and by what I heard (I had to leave to take some friends home that night, so I missed it myself), it was very well-received.

Even though I've seen the japanese verison of the first two movies, I still want to see them in their english counterparts. Hopefully this will generate more Inuyasha fans.

Blah, I'd rather the number of fans stay low, I dont know why but for some reason I like things low key.. I think it makes me feel cooler when i know about something so cool that not many other people know about lol.

I think you may need to find a new anime. I thought InuYasha was fairly popular. Especially since it airs on CN.

Inu-Yasha's become very popular, indeed. Again I refer to AWA9, there were several Inu-Yasha cosplayers (not that specific character, but the general cast) and as I said, the movie's screening was apparently very well-received.
And because it's probably worth mentioning, the Adult Swim run was where I, personally, became exposed to the series, and I love it immensely.

God, I hate anime fans sometimes.
Maybe you should actually do some research then and find out about series way before they've become mega-popular in the states, or purposefully pick oddball obscure shows to obsess over (Gilgamesh, anyone?) instead of hopping on the already-crowded InuYasha and Naruto bandwagons and then complaining that there's too many people on board.
Either that or you could shelve the mindless elitism. Just a suggestion.

I agree - if there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who hate when something gets popular.
I love IY, and the more people feel the same way, the better chance we have to see more great series(-es?) from Japan.
