Could someone kindly explain to me the whole drama that went on between fanboys of this and Something Awful?

I'm not sure what you're talking about. All I know about is the paywall. Something Awful requires 10 dollars to join, and once in a while it blocks people from even viewing it if they're not a member. So Dangan Ronpa fans are unable to keep up with the newest translations when that happens. They seem to suspect it's due to the popularity of Dangan Ronpa that paywalls have been going up more often (supposedly).
