Why is the Magi set so expensive? Is it the complete series or something?

It's 12 dubbed episodes with some nice physical extras...only $15 MSRP over Sentai's dubbed 12 episode DVD collections. AoA's most reasonably priced set yet, I think.

AoA's prices are just down right ridiculous. Though, it's technically still cheaper than buying BD in Japan...

I would have paid that much for Magi on BD. I won't on DVD.

I must say that Magi box set looks rather appealing... May look at a few cut backs to grab this one.
Excited to have Wandering Son on the way with His Favourite to follow not long after
