Reminds me a bit of Parasistence Sana, a manga about human tapeworms (Kisei Kanojo Sana, no ANN entry). Wonder what a cross-over would look like?...

Have we all forgotten Moyashimon already? It even had a gut-bacteria microbe-theater episode, I think, featuring e coli O152 (I think food poisoning was an aspect of the main episode).
Anyway, the Moyashimon manga, at least, had a bit to say about healthy gut bacteria ecology. |

There's a difference between giving a bacteria cell a cute little face and personifying it, and anthropomorphizing it to look "moe-moe kyun". |
