I may have waited too late to try this, but I figured I'd give it a shot.
I've been wanting to get all of Cardcaptor Sakura on DVD for quite some time now. I procrastinated on buying the handy box sets from Geneon, and since Geneon USA shut down, they're now out of stock everywhere I look. I can buy the 18 individual DVDs from places, but I'd still rather have those nice looking box sets, if possible. Does anyone know of a place that has one or both of them for a reasonable price? Thanks for any help! |

I actually as this question myself a short time ago.
Take a look I haven't been able to really buy them as I wished. Anime corner store has the bundle of all the dvds, for $398 bucks. Which is weird, because I remember it being at least $100 less when I was told to look before. Hmmm... Although it seems on Amazon the Clow set alone is $244 so it may be a good deal. -.-; You may be able to find it used at Garage sale Japan on Livejournal. Just ask. I was offered a used Sakura set for $100 bucks, which I turned down because it had some wear and tear The girl may still be offering it though. Otherwise, i'm still in the same boat I was then. Hope that helped you some. |

Geneon's license for CCS expired at the end of 2006, so it was OOP long before there was any hint that the company would shut down.
Some of the individual discs go for cheap used at online stores like Amazon, but others are still at $20 or more, and you'll probably want to hope for them to come down if you want the series for an affordable price. I've also seen the bundle at some convention dealers, so you might want to check those out...they might have the series for $100-$150 or so. I'm not really sure, as I managed to get the sets for about $65 each a year and a half ago. But at this point, tracking down the singles slowly but surely will probably be more affordable than the sets. |

Thank you both for the input.
Brittanica: Thanks for the link to your old topic, and for that LJ community. It can't hurt to ask on there. I've also skimmed through the sales back to November and will probably go a bit further back later today, just in case. I noticed that same Clow box set on Amazon a few weeks ago...someone was selling it for around $150 or so, but right after I sent the seller an email about it, the thing vanished. These box sets used to go for about $80-90 each when they were in stock at RightStuf, so spending $200+ for just one of them seems a bit overpriced. Zalis: That's the conclusion I'm starting to come to now, as I'm afraid I waited too late to try and get those box sets. I'm about willing to settle for the individual DVDs, even if they'll take up considerably more space than those nice box sets would...
Plus, way before Geneon went out of business, I thought I saw them selling all of CCS on their website for about $598, so the entire series in the $200-300 range isn't too bad, especially considering if I bought the individuals all new, it'd run me about $360 anyway. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any good deals in the meantime. |

Amazon has a Megaset listed with all 18 singles. The second seller down seems like he is selling the official products, and the bottom seller happens to be Robert's anime corner store.

Yeah, I've actually been looking at those. I'd wanted to completely exhaust all my resources on the box sets before I went for the individuals.

The 8 disc set with Chinese subtitles listed by the amazon seller is a bootleg. While I'm not going to argue about the ethics of bootlegs I will say that $275 is way too much to charge for it.

Geeze, that goes without saying. Whenever I check eBay for CCS dvds (hey, maybe someone who doesn't know better will let them go cheap eventually...) I see bootleg sets going for a lot cheaper than that.
