I thought Lolita Anime created Lolicon.

Is the comment section of the article talking about the guy's death the appropriate place to question his accomplishments? :/

RIP. I remember reading Disappearance Diary years ago and feeling a kinship with the kind of work burnout he experienced during his life. 69 is still pretty young. Sad

Oh man, what a loss! He was quite well-known among hardcore manga enthusiasts and has always been an influential artist when it comes to science-fiction gag manga and lolicon art.

I have always liked his seventies art style, which reminded me a bit of Tezuka, and I've collected some of his japanese releases since the late nineties. I've even tracked down some special magazine issues with interviews, just to have enough information about him to write an article about some of his work on an old manga website of mine.

Rest in peace, Azuma-sensei.

I grew up watching Poron (or Pollon, as we knew it).

Rest in peace, sensei.

Oh wow! This is a shock. I read his work and talk about a bizarre tale. But it was a highly interesting read.

I send my condolences to his family.

You are confused. Lolita Anime by Wonder Kids was effectively the first R18 Japanese animation featuring lolicon and you may call it the first anime "hentai" if you do not consider the movies of Animerama as really pornographic.
Hideo Azuma is traditionally given the title of "Father of Lolicon" with the first number of the doujinshi Cybele as the first work on the genre being published on April 1979 on the Comiket, meanwhile Lolita Anime came a few years later.
Here is a thread by a guy trying to reconstruct the history of Cybele, a pretty interesting read if you are interested on the Lolicon Boom period.

About the deceased, I wonder if Urahoro, Hokkaido (his hometown) will homage him, like Sakaiminato has done with Shigeru Mizuki. Also, I wonder how are doing guys like Uchiyama Aki, that is, if they are just alright for their age or if they are also on their very last year.
