I'm surprised to see still no release in mainland China since it's such a big market. Is it banned there, you know, China being communist and all that?

I'm not sure if it's been banned, but I'd imagine it would have a hard time getting through censors because of the violence and being set in an era of Japanese history that the Chinese are... not particularly fond of.

Hollywood movies come out regularly in all countries of the world in a close period. Japanese anime risk not being brought to the cinema or being released years later. Here in Italy the rights holder has not dubbed it, because they are afraid that due to the coronavirus there are few people in the cinema
