Are you even listening to a single word I'm saying?

Yes, I am. You think inconsistency in an older show like Ranma might be a problem for newcomers and detrimental to modern standards of anime, I don't. Let's just agree to disagree.

It's not so much about agreeing or disagreeing but more of understanding that other people aren't you when it comes to old animes. And not only that you acknowledge that old anime have inconsistent animation. And while you and me can accept that old and inconsistent animation has charm to them we still need to acknowledge that others are not like us.

Is it a fact? Maybe. I cannot say because I don't have the data to back something like this up. But I have met people who are all about wanting to have their favorite series brought back with better animation. These people DO exist. It's their opinion and their opinion is just as valid.

And that's my problem here. It's not about arguing that the old anime's animation is good or bad. It's more of you dismissing other's feelings about the inconsistent animation just because you personally don't see it as an issue. It's you refusing to acknowledge that there are people that might take old animation as an issue. Especially newcomers who might be turned off by said animation.

I just wanted to say my peace and end this. Good-bye.

I didn't see Rei Sakuma in the trailer and was so worried. Glad to see she's coming back. Shampoo is my favorite girl from this series. Seriously. Ranma should have picked her. And Ryouga should have picked Ukyo, they were great together.

I was wondering how they'd handle the voice cast. I kind of expected they'd do what UY did and recast with modern top-tier seiyuu and just fit in legacy cast when appropriate but they're actually using the original cast! It probably helps that most of them are still active in the industry, but they sound great in the trailer!

I really like the vibe and style of the animation. It feels close to the UY remake despite being a different studio.

Sasuke is an anime only character so I doubt he'd be in this.

Would be funny if he tried. But he'd probably get killed.

First of all: When you start your comment with the sentence "no idea of what show people were watching" doesn't give me a good first impression. I'm not good with words, but I can tell you that the word in question is not a positive word to use towards your attitude right now.

Second: You do know that pink is a lighter shade of red, right?

Third: You're completely ignoring that the original Ranma has several issues that might make it hard for newcomers to get into. Like the animation which is inconsistent. The large amounts of filler episodes that has nothing to do with the series. etc. It's honestly better to have them remake the series in order to bring in new audiences to the series since the original is outdated. So your "perfectly watchable" comment is more debatable and subjective more then anything.

1-Oh, yeah, the thing I want the most is to give a OP fan a good first impression, sorry, but this sounds so arrogant its kinda funny.

"You must give ME a good impression"... hehehe...

2-...So?

3-I cannot ignore what I don't care about, I asked for a Saint Seiya type deal, Saint Seiya completely ignored the filler and Anime only changes and just animated the final 2 arcs.

Now, if the the thing is not successful enough we will never get the final arcs animated, again.

With that said the inconsistent animation can still be seen as off putting to many as it doesn't hold up to the standards of modern anime.

inconsistent animation is not exclusive to older anime. Even new anime has it. you have the banger episodes which look insane, and then you have a drop-off or the calmer episode which doesn't need our animators to destroy themselves for. That's the anime industry (or any animated show even in the West), always and forever.

Yes, there are a few exceptions but they are not the rule. In Japan, we never have an issue with the original Ranma, still being loved by old fans and younger kids. I think in the West it's the lack of accessibility? or people there just prefer newer stuff and that's ok, but inconsistent animation is not the issue as it is present in almost every modern anime.

Jeez, you don't understand "let's agree to disagree", do you?

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure possible newcomers might be more turned off by the show's content (representation of gender, Happosai...) and humour than anything else. The same happened with UY allstars: While many people like the reboot and discovered the original series thanks to it, there are also many anime fans out there who simply didn't care enough to continue watching it after a few episodes beyond appreciating its visual aspect. There are hardly any reaction videos on YT, people don't talk that much about the series on social media compared to the latest seasonal hits and the ratings aren't really good. Same could happen to this Ranma reboot. I hope not.

More importantly, will this lead to a reprint of the manga?

I think Viz started to do reprints/2nd edition of the 2-in-1 last year. The last one was Vol 5 that came out last month.

I think at the moment supply of volumes 4 and 5 is a bit thin, so likely another print run of each will be happening soon-ish. But yeah, the series is/has been in print recently.

Wow,didn't think (but hoped) the original cast would be back.
Drat, another anime want to see but will be on Netflix.

"A lot of the OG cast is actually coming back for this. Must be a real nostalgic reunion for them all."

Not too much of a reunion, as in not seen each other for a long time, as a good chunk of the main cast also voice main or regularly recurring characters in Detective Conan Wink

It wouldn't surprised me if even Inuyasha remake is in consideration, if not already in production.

FYI, I'm gonna ignore every "But why?" type of a reply.

Sadly it's not even worth arguing "why" they would do that. Just one look at the viewing numbers for the Ranma trailer answers every question one might have.

I just hope they don't completely forget about Maison Ikkoku in the Rumiko Takahashi revival wave. That one, more than any of the others, gives potential room for leeway in the adaptation process, since its story is more grounded in reality and you could transport its setting to our time period quite easily.
If they want to, of course.

I can't wait, I would've thought they'd try to get new VA's but I'm over the moon with the fact they've got everyone back from Kappi, Riko, Megumi, Noriko, and so many others of the MC. I guess it just shows how impactful Ranma 1/2 was to their lives.

As for the Dub, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought back some of the OG VA's but I do doubt it as most have retired (Though that's little incentive not to come back) and I do believe some would be interested in coming back such as Richard Cox and Drew Russell.

Either way I think this is amazing and I can't wait to see how this is going to impact the anime world again as it seems to haven't lost it's fanfare at all.
