I'm really glad to hear that the director is using the author's love of Ultraman as an influence in the adaptation.

I remember noticing the aliens looked like actual Ultraman aliens and realizing the author had to be a fan.
Also glad to know how much passion is going into this from the anime staff.

Just came back from the theatrical screening of the first 3 episodes. I like that they included an interview compilations for the main cast, the mangaka and his editor, and also the director. Was really interesting especially listening to the director talking about his vision of how to bring the feel of manga to the anime adaptation but using anime specific visuals because you can't replicate some of the drama of actually turning a page. I love that he has a sketch book that he basically kept as dramatic scenes that he hope to replicate in his work. From the 3 episodes so far you can tell this is really a labor of a lot of care and love, and its hard be believe its his first series director role.
