I was just thinking the movie looked a lot like a Ghibli production. This totally tracks. But man, this looks awesome. I'd love to watch it! Here's hoping GKids gets their hands on this. |

I am interested in this. A little glimpse at a often untold and dark story. Okinawa is not just a tropical paradise, kids.

Cocoon was a brutal read, but also a fascinating one. I love Machiko Kyo's art, and the use of color is very nice. Of course I'm looking forward to the anime.
Pigtails has a European Bluray release that was fairly easy to track down, and the manga for that was the first of her works that I read. Also brilliant stuff, with a bit of a dark edge to the whimsy. I also recently finished reading Mikako-san, a romance/slice-of-life series that I would also rate highly. She also has a few manga-sized bilingual illustration books that I managed to track down, documenting life under the Covid lockdown. Interesting, at least, and of course, neatly side-steps the language barrier. I want to eventually read some of her (many) other works, but there's a bit of a language barrier, and at least so far, there aren't any official or even unofficial releases for most of them. |
