This is such a great series, it has really divisive elements but it is obvious why people love it and why it has endured as a worthy entry in the series.

This is definitely one of the most popular seasons in Japan. It's not quite my favorite, but it's still a great season overall. I would argue that Yes 5 and Fresh are a couple of the most foundational series of Precure: the two seasons that impacted the template future seasons would reference the most.
I certainly hope the seasons that yet to be officially subbed are subbed soon enough.

I legitimately cannot watch this season of Precure. Not because I think it's bad, but because Coco and Natts' fairy voices are so high pitched, shrill, and ear-splittingly awful that they literally set off my sensory issues and make me physically recoil. Which is a shame because I'm sure this is a fine series.

I really wish this series had a dub, I dont hate the fairy voices but stuff like this is pretty common to see.

I am forever thankful that they didn't realize Urara was going to be as popular as she was, and Nuts got to be tied to Komachi instead and we got some great episodes out of it lol

I need a bit of an explanation, was Nuts supposed to be Urara's boyfriend?

No but if they knew she was going to be a breakout character I assume they would have paired her with Nuts. Because the moment they realized they created Syrup, a character who basically exists so she can have a guy to be paired up with lol

Not a big fan of Yes 5. I think the episodic plots are weaker than average for the series.

I'm the rare Precure fan who prefers Go! Go! over the original Yes 5, but you can't get to the former without sitting through the latter. One thing I'll admit is that the Nightmare group makes for some great villains early on, especially the legend that is Bunbee, though Girinma's no slouch either.

Something I don't think gets quite enough credit is Maeda Ai's voicework here as Karen/Aqua. While this was several years on from her most notable role playing Mimi in the Digimon Adventure duology, the difference is practically night and day as she takes on an entirely different register.

For me, Yes 5 hits a lot of the same notes as magical girl series that I enjoyed around the time that I was the same age as the girls. More than any other Precure season, this one takes me back to the days of Tokyo Mew Mew & Shugo Chara. Which, coincidentally, also include spoiler[problematic romance] elements, which may be why I was able to shrug off the issue here. I do genuinely enjoy the relationship between spoiler[Natts and Komachi] though.

The biggest strength (imo) is the cast of girls, and the fact that their friendships are so fleshed out. Everyone's friendships with each-other are unique and treated with care.
I believe the first half includes an episode about Karen & Rin, and one of my favorite episodes in the series (spoiler just in case) involves bonding between spoiler[Urara & Komachi]. The added darkness and tokusatsu themes also set it apart. Nozomi became my favorite pink cure, despite seeing many other Precure seasons with notable pink cures. Also, Bunbee is an iconic villain of all Precure villains. I was so glad he returned in Otona.

TLDR; This season is divisive for understandable reasons, but there is always a Precure season for someone, as this became my (subjective) favorite season, alongside my (first) favorite Hugtto Precure, and what I like to call my / the (objective) favorite, Heartcatch.
