Meanwhile, the anime continues to be deader than a doornail...

I wasn't even aware that the series wasn't finished. Never watched many episodes growing up.

The anime coming back would leave me with mixed feelings, because the dub is legendary and I don't trust any of the big streamers to bring back Ocean for this. At best they'd pull a Yashahime. Just use their normal dubbing house and record the main cast remotely.

I think that's probably due to Sunao Katabuchi not being available. If they decide to continue the anime now that there's more than enough material for another 12-episode season, I guess they'll have to find another director.

Wish it was more often, but glad to see there's still some life in the series.

I'd love to get the spin-offs in English too. Would be a good way to keep up interest in the series.

Glad the manga is returning, now we just need the anime Season 3 revival! With popular old content revivals/reboots becoming the trend, including with anime like Panty and Stocking and Ranma 1/2, then the Black Lagoon anime must return!

that is unlikely.

most of the ocean studios cast have long since retired so it is very unlikely they will be a yashahime scenario since canadian VAs are even more expensive to hire than their LA counterparts!

it only worked because of viz media and their healthy relationship with the inuyasha VAs! otherwise it would have beeen next to impossible to get them to reprise their roles if the dub for yashahime was done by a different dubbing studio!

either way, i think its long overdue for hiroe to end the series. its clearly taking a toll on his health and i really dont want to see another mangaka passing away like mr toriyama and miwa because of overwork!

The majority of Black Lagoon's dub cast are still active actors. The leads (Hendrikse, Swaile, Drummond, Redman) certainly are. Just because you haven't heard someone in an anime dub recorded within the last 12 months doesn't mean they're retired or wouldn't do it if given the chance. Patricia Drake (Balalaika) showed up in her first anime dub since Black Lagoon last year.

Talking about a dub is a few steps ahead anyway.
