It feels weird to say but after the first episode I am certain that I will keep watching yet also disliked half of the premiere. A chill slice of life about cooking and happy vibes is something I can very much appreciate. In order to get there we had to sit through two unpleasant cliches in the form of ''getting fired from the party'' and ''slavery being a thing''. Given the title I understand that situations start of bad to then become happy/better but it made a large portion of the first episode a drag.

I wasn't expecting the "Kicked out of my party" trope to show up either. As to the vibe, unless I miss my guess, all those lolis in the promo art are going to be young girls who come from bad circumstances and wind up working at the restaurant, which isn't really a dynamic I feel compelled to keep watching. I'll give it another episode or two to see if that is indeed the case because this wasn't bad, but I've got Water Magician and Dan Da Dan to look forward to on Thursdays.

Episode 1

Count me among those viewers who could do without the "kicked out of a party" and "slavery" stuff. Based on this first episode, it is hard to predict how much of this show is going to be foodie SoL and how much will be narrative stuff. I liked it because if you are going to do SoL, you can do worse by me than to provide a fantasy setting and food. I'm guessing the armored customer at the end is Katie, a little more decked out than when we saw her in her string bikini ensemble at the beginning.

Have to say, I'm delighted that MC looks and sounds like a grown-ass man instead of a Kirito knock-off.

I love the idea of a thought process that concludes "Bikini + Trenchcoat" that doesn't involve streaking.

I have an automatic dislike of main characters who buy a slave. It is so weird that it has been a trope becoming so popular in the fantasy genre. Why is there such a need to have a young girl be contractually obligated as not their own person to do things for a main character. One, at that, who just so awesome but was kicked out of the hero party because they were not appreciated for actually how good they are.

Well, in defense of MCs who buy slaves, 99.9% of them free the slave almost immediately. It's a tired, cliched way of saying, "Gosh, isn't the MC just such a swell guy?" Just once I'd love the freed slave... who is almost always a young, cute girl... say, "Whoa, I'm free? Cool. Thanks, chump, I'm outta here!" Never happen though. Of course they all stay with their liberator and become their little dress-up doll to have kindness lavished on them.

I agree, the person in question usually has nowhere or no one to turn to though. Yeah, you can tell the girl who has nobody in the world left to enjoy freedom but she also has to eat and live somewhere

Of course, paying huge amounts to buy a slave provides additional capital to the slave trade and helps establish and propagate the market value of slavery. But who's keeping track of that?

But... but... if he didn't pay a huge price we would have NO way of knowing if he's a super nice guy or not!!!

As of episode 2 it seems like the show will have plenty of nice food and peaceful times inside the restaurant while events outside are not nearly as safe. The world of adventurers is dangerous and that is due to both monsters and peers as shown this week. Henrietta has plenty of skill but she indeed should have been far more wary of that sus seeming party, Dennis could have done a bit more questioning too just to be sure.

I liked seeing the restaurant get properly opened but am growing really tired of all the rapey bandits and adventurers that have become so common.

Episode 2

Me too, smurky, me too. Come on, anime, there are tons of ways to put female characters in peril without playing the rape card. Get with the program. However, setting that nonsense aside, this is another "not doing anything amazing, yet somehow holding my interest" show for me. Damn, that katsudon looked awesome.

Another week, another outcast. The third episode contained another serving of delicious food and a bit of near death experience, I am relieved that every outcast story is different (aka not three rapey stories in a row). In the case of Vivia it was being a bit too high on her own supply and thus thinking that she could handle anything. The dungeon was once again a harsh mistress, that includes the unexpected appearance of the helpful ghost(?).

I wonder if the answer to all their problems is an outcast adventurer party.

Geez, four episodes in and the show makes me think 90% of adventurers are a-holes, rapists or abusive. I get that the stories are needed to introduce the outcasts but surely one story with some decent adventurers would have been possible.

Episode 4

Yeah, just like this town has that world's shittiest adventure parties, the shittiest parents in the world all live in the same place in Takopi. A convergence of narrative convenience, I guess. Anyway, it was nice to see the Crimson Sword in her bikini armor again.
