Dub stays winning!

And, as expected, the new OP and ED tracks aren't as bangin' as Season1, but those were a high bar. The ED and visuals are growing on me though.

I think it'll be an interesting twist if the sob story behind the Evil Eye turns out to be a full or partial fabrication to trick Jiji into handing his body over.

His soccer moves are cool as heck though!

Science Saru is back to knocking it out of the park with the adaption...the animation has been stellar in these three episodes, the fights have been amazingly adapted, the voice acting and direction continue to be incredibly on-point.

The new OP isn't Creepy Nuts but I think it's actually pretty solid and has Dandadan chanting so I think it works! And the ED visuals and dancing are pretty great.

Turbo Granny is as crass and petty as ever but notice how she always manages to protect Momo when guys are creeping on her (which unfortunately happens a lot) and how she cried tears when Okarun showed up.

Okarun and Momo's romance doesn't have to be in-your-face despite being the core of the series but it's always clear how much these two think about/care about each other and spur them on during intense situations.

The only nice thing I can say about the Kito Family is the matriarch mastering Jennifer Lopez Anaconda Martial Arts. Truly the only fighting style that could beat a gyaru like Momo.

I was just thinking to myself how it looked more like a worm than a serpent and lo and behold it's actually a Mongolian Death Worm!

Classic Dandadan to introduce a dangerous supernatural entity that has a massively tragic backstory...it's no wonder Jiji, good and genius guy that he is, felt so much empathy for Evil Eye. Of course he couldn't have foreseen that the Evil Eye's experience with humans would drive him to hate and want to exterminate humanity, but thinking collectively about what he (and other children he saw) had to experience, can you completely blame him? Well, until he goes after Momo.

Okarun using the power of love/friendship and squats to defeat the Evil Eye! It's especially effective because the Turbo Okarun mask came off!

I can't believe Momo straight-up admitted to committing arson to police and tried to segue away from that. I mean, the police are in the Kito Family pocket so she was likely screwed either way, but imagine getting saved from being arrested by the very thing you committed arson to draw out. Though could you imagine what Seiko would probably make Momo do before she coughed up bail money?

The full-circle karma that the house that shielded it and offered it sacrifices was ultimately torn apart and used to make it kill itself as it did so many of its victims. Even better was how Momo figured it out because of her friendship with Jiji who is the only reason she's even in there.

Momo should become an honorary Ultrawoman at this point. She had the Ultraman eyes in the S1 OP, she did the flight pose here, she even did an Ultra Beam against a Kaiju!

spoiler[I'm particularly excited to see Vamola make it into the anime at some point, though I think considering the new opening, she'll only appear near the end of this season, kinda like Jiji did with the first.]

Okarun's 'nobody hits Momo' at the end of the second episode marks a pretty big shift in they dynamics of this show. Up until now, while Okarun has been doing a lot of the leg-work in fights, Momo's been the one directing him. But for the first time we see Momo at a loss and genuinely in trouble and Okarun steps up all on his own to protect her.

The Dandadan is really back just firing on all cylinders.

EE showing Jiji his past to illicit sympathy so he can takeover his body doesn't necessity mean what Jiji saw was fake. More rather that EE hates all humans, Jiji included, enough to manipulating them.

Not only that, but I was especially impressed by how thoughtful he is with the fight itself. Trapping him in a tight space makes a lot of sense considering his main thing is speed, which would require room to build enough momentum to do real damage. Instead, he turned it around and used that leg strength to do super squats like a jackhammer. Since Evil Eye was pinned against a wall, he could keep hitting instead of launching him with the first strike.

I also think this might be the first time Okarun has actually won a fight solo without Momo.

Okarun - “Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken!”

Also Okarun - Pratfalls into worm goo.

And both are completely in character.

It would be funny if those crazy, murdering cultish psychos were right and the worm really was keeping the volcano in check.
It doesn't make what they did ok of course, but it would be an unexpected twist

Episode 16 is, IMO, the finest 20 minutes in Science Saru's history as a studio. What an absolute tour de force.

Grandma's scene is not good for people with cardiac issues Wink

Honestly, I'm really glad the arc ended cos it nearly took half of a cour. Okarun seemed far calmer than usual. Maybe the power he uses really affects his personality that much. Akira Amano used to do that with Tsuna Sawada which I really appreciated as Tsuna's personality was too overthetop when compared with the others from Reborn

This episode was perfection. The highs. The lows. The twists and turns. The stupid little songs the kid sings. The callbacks. The goofiness of using the worm as a huge firehouse and using Taro as a man-shaped warded Yokai prison. Momo's desperate breathless race back to where Okarun is, her utter devastation at seeing the hole full of lava, and relief at seeing him alive. What a fantastically crafted piece of art this show is.

Great episode. I personally didn't like the use of William Tell the first time, so obviously didn't like it again.

The dub cast continuing to knock it out of the park bringing life to these characters that I love. <3
