We don’t need articles about politics we need anime news.

When I first saw this, I knew it was the senseito party, God, what in the world is that party doing

Some anime news happen to be also news about politics. The creators of The World is Mine and Library Wars seem to think so. |

Anime and manga are already controlled by corporate companies, so government intervention might be a good idea. Maybe this will finally stop some of the shady stuff corporations are doing in the anime industry. If it helps crack down on poor labor conditions and unfair practices, then I’m all for it. Corporate greed has hurt the anime industry long enough. Intervention might be what’s needed to clean it up.
That might be true, but you have to wonder if these comments from mangaka are being pushed by the corporations behind them. |

No, I'm pretty sure the mangaka can be concerned about mass censorship and the kind of fascistic ideologies that empowers all on their own

Just when the anime/manga industry is thriving internationally like never before, along comes the far right to ruin it for everyone. Typical.

The way that sanseito party is trying to do it is a bad idea. They are too dumb to say "What we want is enforce good practices on the industry and keep the freedom of speech" but they are the senseito party, so whatever they say is just pure stupidity

If it is fair to question the motivations of creators posting under their own names, is it fair to question the motivations of people posting anonymously on a six-day-old account? |

You seem weirdly insistent on bringing up corporations when the subject matter here is actual people voicing their discontent. I know I'm expecting too much from as Egan Loo points out a burner account (that couldn't even bother to change accounts between complaining about the mere existence of the article to running defense for far right censorship), but still |

Considering who the proposal comes from(party known for anti-LGBT, anti-foreigner, history revisionism(WW2), conspiracy theories(COVID)) and is worded as 'healthy direction' and 'delegate authority to a government entity', one would be a fool not to see why it raises concerns. Also, it's naive to assume the proposal is somehow independent of their platform, on issues like those lined above.. |

Is this a joke? Manga dominates any domestic comic market on the planet. I do not think they need any goverment help for this. |

"Library Wars" is literally about government censorship of written word and the author says “My humble wish that Library Wars would not become a prophetic story is threatened.”
This quote: "Yuzuki called into question what “healthy development” is: “If they carry this out, will they also change the constitution? Can we really allow a political party that doesn't even seem healthy to judge the healthiness of our work? What does ‘healthy’ mean anyway?” is also clearly about censorship. So no, creators are certainly afraid of government censorship as article mentions. Saying otherwise is disingenuous. |

No one is going to directly say "we'll force creators and companies to change what they make so everything's in line with what we want", so it's important to notice tells in what they do say, and there are blatant tells in those bullet points. Especially if you also take into account Sanseito's other positions, it's clear that they're not interested in bettering creative industries, but controlling them to limit what they can do.

This is not true at all. The Japanese Communist Party has had no problem saying that they want to censor anime, manga, and video games to get rid of content they deem sexist, objectifying towards women, discriminatory, and problematic. Dragon Quest was one of the bigger properties they wanted to make regulations for. They've even want to get the United Nations involved to put pressure on Japan to make change happen. There are plenty of pro-censorship groups in Japan. They're not that popular but they are often incredibly honest at least in what they want. |
