Also, My-Otome's release here was another example of peak special edition packaging from Bandai USA back in the heyday of anime DVD releases. Congrats on the anniversary! |

I preferred My HiME, but still have a lot of nostalgia for Otome. The soundtracks for those shows were fantastic.

QFT. It's definitely one of the neater box designs (up there with the Gantz sphere and the GATE ammo case). While I always found Arika a bit annoying, I've probably rewatched Otome more over the years than HiME. Always liked the series' grand drama and the killer soundtrack (which I own). I even have a series T-shirt that I still occasionally wear. As for how they haven't done more with the franchise over the years? Not sure how much more could actually be done with the series, beyond maybe filling in some more backstories. I'm content to let it rest as is. |

I only watched Mai-Hime (in 3 days, BTW). Still need to pick up on Mai-Otome and its OVAs.
Mai-Hime is an example of an, IMO, underrated era in anime, from around the same time as Nanoha. |

That might be a stretch, since titles like Fullmetal Alchemist, Gankutsuou, GiTS:SAC 2nd Gig, Samurai Champloo, BECK, Elfen Lied, Samurai 7, School Rumble, Monster, the beginning of Bleach, and the movie Howl's Moving Castle all came out/were airing around the same time. |

I recently watched all of My-Hime and My-Otome, including the sequel Zwei and in-between 0: S.ifr (which is one of the best parts of the entire franchise). I wish there was more to Otome.
Anyone know why the promotional videos are restricted to just Japan? |

Yes, it's an era that has its fans, thanks to all of those titles and more. But it's also an era associated with the dominance of harem and visual novel adaptations. While some of those are appreciated or even acclaimed titles, a lot of them... aren't. If nothing else, I don't think it is as acclaimed of an era as the late 90s and the turn of the millennium. |

Several of the titles on that list are at the masterpiece/GOAT level. The mid-00s were stacked. |

Also speaking as a yuri fan, 2004 with Nanoha, Maria-sama ga Miteru, Kannazuki no Miko, and Mai-HiME was the breakout year for the beginning of a golden age of yuri anime that lasted until 2009. Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome were both important shows to the yuri fandom at the time, with huge outwellings of fanart, doujins, and fanfic connected to them. ShizNat in particular will always be one of the legendary couples of yuri history.
