Uh, it's under interest and ANN has reported on non-anime news, I mean were you aware that ANN has been reporting on Korean/K-drama and webtoon/manhwa stuff since late of last year? I mean, if you're a long time ANN users, I think you would've seen ANN been reporting on non-anime stuff like this one for example. |

I wouldn’t waste your breath at this point anyone asking this even with having been explained why you get articles like this, is just a troll |

Not a troll and considering I've been a member of this site longer than you, the idea I exist just to do that is laughable. On topic: With the other cases of manhwa, webtoons, etc, I could always see a connection, even tangentially, how they relate to anime (I also assume that ANN is taking a much BROADER definition of anime). However, in this case, I just do not see the "anime" connection. At all. It is shoes. And it is Playstation. Like...is the connection: "Playstation let's people play JRPGs"? Or..."Playstation is a Japanese company"? I just don't see it. I commented because, at least in the view of a person who has (again) been on this site for 15 years, a notable departure and a change from before. It is kinda weird and, while maybe not the first time they've done something in this vein...it is at least the first time it caused me to raise an eyebrow. Hence my comment. There. Did I adequately explain myself to the (non-mod) comment police? |

I mean the site posts news and interest pieces about Japanese gaming companies all the time. A shoe tie-in is a bit further a field, but that's why it's an interest piece and not a news story.

Well, ANN has talked about stuff that is not even related to anime hence why I put the ANN's Bioshock article from 2014 on there. But if you want to see ANN writing a lot of stuff that aren't even related to anime, well, you can have a look at this: From 2015: Lily James Accused of Racism for Writing 'Shinderera' (it's not even anime related at all, and yet ANN wrote an article on that) From Sept (last month): French Novel Empire of the Ants to Be Adapted Into Korean Webtoon (it's not even related to manga or anime, look at what the OP user wrote on that article who like you is a long time anime/manga and ANN user) And it's not the first time ANN wrote about Playstation and not related to anime: From 2021: Sony Halts PlayStation 4 Production in Japan Except for Jet Black Slim Model (not related to anime at all, and yet ANN still wrote about this) I mean Connor Dino, where were you when all of these ANN articles I linked above are written? Did you not knew that ANN wrote something like those that are not even related to anime/manga at all? |

That's an interesting point. You're not wrong. It is true that a genuine troll here for the lulz or the free complaints bin might not be interested in receiving a genuine response, but - speaking for myself only - think it is worth answering even insincere questions with sincere and well-thought out answers. Some people spit out negativity without really considering anything, but a sincere answer might reach someone who genuinely does not know, hasn't been around long enough or hasn't read widely enough to understand. Some people need more context than others. So, yes, the OP might merely be shit-stirring, but someone else might sincerely think "Oh, I did not know that!" or go look up the Features to see what else is covered and find something of interest. And, finally, maybe the OP is a troll...maybe not. Maybe having their comment addresses seriously makes them feel heard and responded to in a way they don't normally feel. People are weird and wacky, and it's always worth taking time to teach. |

I also think its worthwhile because of lurkers. I lurk way more than I post and I lurked for awhile before I started posting. So whether or not a particular person might be a troll, there probably are people that sincerely hold similar opinions and those people get to see your thoughts too. So even if you were somehow 100% sure someone is trolling it can still be worth dissecting their ideas and discussing them, because someone who's curious may find something worthwhile in them even if they don't want to speak up themselves. |
