Fingers crossed that a more experienced director and the removal of Robert Deniro leads to a better result

Honestly, they should have just done a straightforward adaptation of the manga like the Trigun fans have been wanting since the end of the manga. I guess Nightow wasn’t into the idea, though.

This is all that I want. I'd do anything.

Wow that jacket Vash is wearing really does not measure up to his original fit?

Where are the long multiple coat-tails? Its like when a comic book character gets a redesign that is sorta like their normal design but is overall worse.

Not sure why you're talking as if Kenji Mutou didn't do a good enough job. He has already proven himself as a great director even before Stampede, given his episodes on Land of the Lustrous.

Yes, you did list his only other directorial credit besides one episode of Punch Line compared to Masako Satou's body of work over a decade. Not even going into that being a series director is very different from being an episode director. But I would say the fact that he was taken off this project and replaced by someone with greater seniority (and thus greater reliability to course correct) speaks more about Orange's thoughts on his work on Stampede (along with the series composer, also replaced by someone with much more experience) than anything either of us can subjectively say lol

Sadly I think it was due to marketing. They had to make sure they could make a design they could sell in real life. Everything looks simple enough to be a marketable real-life item they can sell to fans.

Not a fan of any of the character redesigns. Feel like they're made to appeal to the new generation and not fans of the original. Would also love an adaption of the original manga with 2D animation.

I hope we get a 2D animated adaptation. The CGI is too much to me.

Considering the state of the industry and lack of manpower you'd get a dogshit 2D adaptation. Will that be worth it just because it's hand drawn?

Orange has done an immaculate job so far, a lot of the ambitious scenes wouldn't be possible traditionally without killing the animators.

The Madhouse adaptation didn't have good animation, yet that was still great.

There are plenty of other manga getting amazing and faithful 2d adaptations, I don't know why Trimax would be any different.

My thoughts exactly. I skipped Stampede because of her absence since it felt bizarre to cut a major character like that, but leave the associated half of the pair she's in. Now I'm willing to give this reboot a try.

Tbh Stampede Meryl basically was just a different character they slapped the name on, there to be an ineffectual damsel for the cool new male OC to protect and impart life lessons to

That's assuming a noteworthy team would pick this ancient IP up and invest a lot of money into it. Besides you're already getting a great adaptation with this, I very much doubt they think it's worth to reboot it again.
