If I had to describe the first episode in one word then it would be basic. As of now the characters are basic, the premise is basic and the same can be said about the animation (at some moments the heads/necks are a bit weirdly shaped). There is charm to be found though and Yoshida being aware of her feelings in the very first episode is refreshing. Seeing Yano slowly come out of his injury riddled shell might also be worthwhile to see.
Not a premiere that blows you away but it might be a nice low-key watch. |

I'm worried that he's permanently lost an eye, since no matter how much time passes, he's always sporting the patch. He's also probably going to suffer from CTE from a lifetime of repeated concussions. How many blows to the head does he receive in just the OP??
Anyway, Yano is sweet, but Kiyoko is a tad too hysterical all the time over everything (thank goodness for her rational friend), which, coupled with what looks like a one-joke premise, was already getting old by the end of the episode. We'll see if they have anything else in the tank to keep me onboard. |

I kind of like the no frills animation style. It is indeed basic, but at the same time it's clean and distinct from the bog standard animation style that is all bright colors and sparse backgrounds with lots of boxy shapes and at least two or three characters who I could swear have been in at least ten or twelve other anime visually verbatim.
I also agree that the premise could be challenging to extend beyond a one joke pattern, but there have been other anime that made the leap. Teasing Master Takagi-san had a one joke premise at first, and I can think of at least one comedy romance anime with an accident prone male lead (Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie) that I liked. That said, I've watched...umm...I guess five? Sure, let's say five of the fall season's new offerings, and I haven't been captivated or repulsed by any of them. It's mostly been all eh, maybe, not bad, could be, probably not but I'll give it at least one more chance, that was mildly pleasant, etc. I'll root for this one because it seems to have a good heart. |

The premise of Yano being cursed (his situation is more than just bad luck) is still rather predictable/one-note as of episode 2. Most of the time you can predict what will happen based on what is shown. On the other hand is Yano and Yoshida getting to know each other better and sharing a romantic moment or two. It is also satisfying to see the former manage to have some non disastrous moments thanks to his friends.
It is enough to keep me watching but I do hope that the pattern gets extended a bit. |

Make that a family curse, seems like the Yano bloodline has a dark and hidden past. |

Hey, that ep actually had a couple of moments that made me laugh! Like, he needed three bandaids on his face after just helping the kids with the machine in the post-credts. I guess it's good he didn't get his head stuck in there or lose a finger. His father, who he's the spitting image of, getting stuck between the walls was funny too.

The show indeed has some good gags, it thankfully does not have too many per episode either (preventing repetition). Episode 4 was interesting in that the whole class fully supports/helps Yano and there being such a wholesome bond between romance rivals. The end made me chuckle since Hashiba gave up on his own romance while voicing his support for Yoshida knowing that she is in for a struggle. |

A character being slow to realize that he or she is in love is nothing new but the way episode 5 tackled Yano's case was fun and creative. It also makes for a unusual dynamic with Hashiba seemingly still being in the race for Kiyoko's affections while also supporting Yano with his many struggles. As for Haruto.... he is there. |

Other than the animation taking a nosedive this week, this was a decent episode.
But WOW did it look terrible. |

The animation is indeed wonky at times with episode 5 having been the worst thus far. Episode 6 was thankfully consistent and of decent to good quality. Story wise I loved it. Yano discovering what his feelings are due to reading a lot of shoujo manga was great and him going straight for it afterwards was one heck of a surprise. Yoshida meanwhile was driving herself nuts and trying out tactics that were just dumb (yet hilarious, especially her trying to copy Izumi). They are now a couple so I look forward to seeing the changed dynamics. As for Hashiba.... rest in peace. |

It feels refreshing to see some initial dating between characters in a romance anime. Far too often things end with the confession (or a flashforward to a wedding). It also helps that Yano and Yoshida make for a fun/adorable couple. Hashiba meanwhile is in a really awkward spot. |

I was joking when I mentioned Yano being cursed in relation to his eye being sealed away. The truth is likely not that crazy but they sure are making a big thing about it. |

That was a fun and entertaining rom-com/slice of life. Every character is likeable, the premise is not a one note gimmick and seeing Yano come out of his shell and enjoy life with his friends is charming. I want to say that the curse plotline was a bit silly but given his extreme bad luck it is honestly not that hard to believe. |

It was decent. It was very unambitious and light on content, I think this might have worked better as a half-length short.
