@Edjwald

Five volumes into the manga, so far, so good.

I hope so, since iyashikei appears to be a dying genre (we need more Manga Time Kirara adaptations and fewer Narō).

1:

The first episode is quite charming with a basic premise that has some hints of story elements for later on. The latter goes mostly for Wakana. She has some great laundry skills and she loves her work but it seems she has forgotten everything besides that due to some event. The laundry aspect is surprisingly interesting and the town seems to be filled with nice quirky people. A nice comfy show to relax with.

The only thing I am unsure about is the fan service, it felt like the episode needed to remind the viewer that Wakana has big ones every few minutes.

It worked for me. I went back to work today, and when I got home, this was a great anime for chillin'. My only qualm is that I watched this on the couch and wound up drifting off to sleep...but it was pleasant and I watched the rest of the anime when I woke up again...so...the anime wasn't boring, it was soothing, right?

Anyway, I've got no complaints except that the male lead they introduced seems like a lot of nothing much. Watching him go nuuuhhhh with a braindead look on his face wasn't really making me root for romantic developments.

I don't know about anybody else, but I found the breakneck pace, wall-to-wall sex and gory action scenes to be distracting. Heh.

Nope, this is your basic SoBL (Slice of Boring Life) offering which I noted in another thread is not my favourite genre these days. However, this has a certain charm to it that will cause me to check out more. And smurky, you note the show's proclivity for reminding us that Kinme has "big ones" frequently as if it was a BAD thing.

And here I thought maybe after that Lou girl got you to give back all those Christmas gifts you'd stolen... Wink

But seriously, fantasy and slice of life are two of my favorite genres right now, but I get not being in the mood for things. God knows, I've trotted out the things I'm tired of a time or two.

Oh, and I almost forgot, so I'm editing this in. What was with that comment of the MC's about loving cleaning because it's what she remembers? Do you think that's a reference to amnesia, or something she did with her parents who are apparently no longer on the scene? If she came from a family that ran a laundry shop, it would explain where she got all those skills...

I think that is a reference to amnesia and it makes for quite the interesting bit of plot for later on.

I found it surprising that the Preview Guide reviewers made references to her dry-cleaning while the first episode had a whole scene with her explaining that she doesn't do dry-cleaning only wet washing with special care.

@Alan45, at it's heart, it's probably because us western modern convenience types barely have the capacity to conceive of such a thing. Food reheated with my oven tastes better than food heated with my microwave, but I still use the microwave.

@Edjwald Her methods are certainly more labor intensive, something American companies would charge an arm and a leg for if the service was available at all. My understanding is that prior to dry cleaning some clothes were simply not cleaned at all or only seasonally. Of course in the absence of permanent press and synthetic fabrics clothes could take a lot more abuse. We probably wash and clean clothes more frequently than necessary.

There was once a deluxe drycleaning service in Toronto so fancy that it would remove all the buttons on a dress shirt before cleaning and sew them back on afterward. Yikes.

Well, they did introduce a customer (Asami Yagara) black sheer fabric covered oppai first. Shocked

I am hoping that Kyuushou Ishimochi is not a future romantic interest, but merely someone who needs specialty shoe care.

I second that. No interest in shota material.
