Oh boy. Can't wait to see how Amazon A.I. dubs the new Ghost in the Shell

Why they couldn't they have just quit the anime game after the failure of Anime Strike?

Annnd my interest in the new Ghost in the Shell anime just cratered, not giving Bezos any money to watch it as I am boycotting that company due to what happened in 2024.

Not to play Devil's Advocate, but they only gave AI dubs to 2010s anime.

The most recent animes were dubbed normally.

They probably wont, it was only a few anime (not up to 5) that got the AI dub

Because there's still money to be made in anime, and corporations go where the money is Neutral

I am in agreement tho. I'd rather Ghost in the Shell go to literally anyone else. But it is what it is. The silver lining here is that Ghost in the Shell is too big of a franchise for Amazon to cheap out on and use AI Dubbing instead. I don't think they'd risk the monumental backlash they'd receive if the tried it with GITS. But I could be giving them too much credit, who knows...

As long as I don’t have to pay extra, it’s bearable. That’s why Anime Strike tanked. The idea is to watch this and Spider Noir right after the other, not segment it.

Though even then it's a toss-up quality wise. Sanda and Gundam got dubs with seasoned anime voice actors, whereas The Darwin Incident was tossed to a studio in Florida where barely anyone in the cast has more than two prior credits.

Looks like I will be sailing the seas for Fist of the North Star then, I’m not watching 7 minutes of commercials for a 23 minute episode. Keep my money but I’m not participating in that.

Whelp, I will have find alternative sources to watch as I refuse to pay for Amazon Prime just to watch commercials.

They dubbed The Darwin Incident into English at a studio with very little experience in Florida? That's similar to what happened with My Hero Academia's Latin American Spanish dub, including the Florida part.
But as others mentioned, I don't think Amazon will use AI to dub new series, don't think the original rightholders would allow it, not to mention it would be very unprofessional. Not that using AI was a professional move in Amazon's part, but I bet they did it with old anime because they thought nobody would notice, which was a great mistake
As for their official dubs into Neutral Spanish, I'd say I didn't found them to be of bad quality, but some are better than others. I'm a bit biased when it comes to Neutral Spanish dubs, but the one which where dubbed in Mexico City, like GQuuuuuuX, Panty & Stocking S2, Sanda, The Darwin Incident, Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, Look Back, A Star Brighter than the Sun were very well done; the ones dubbed in Argentina like Dinner Table Detective, Ninja vs. Gokudo and City were fine, but I didn't hear people talking about them; and the ones dubbed in Cuernavaca, Mexico like Magilumiere and Old Country Bumpkin were also fine
The only thing I hope with The Ghost in the Shell is that if it gets dubbed in Mexico if Motoko's original dub VA, Gaby Willer, could reprise her role, because she didn't came back for some of the recent series, despite her auditioning for the role again.

I personally hope they fixed whatever looks awkward about Fist, so that it doesn't risk being Berserk 2016 2.0. Not the first to say it, but...

I also think with a show as big as GITS the Japanese licensors will probably commission the dub themselves as we've seen with most of the dubs of most other high profile anime shows on Amazon. This is also a show where as much as I love the classic SAC dub cast, given it's supposed to be more faithful to the manga, I wouldn't mind a fresh modern recast with newer actors though I wouldn't mind if the SAC cast came back either. The bigger issue with GITS is they likely won't do any marketing for it at all like Amazon didn't with Gqux and either nobody will watch it because they don't know it's even out or they'll pirate it because either they don't know where it's streaming or various other reasons.

Specifically for Amazon Prime, I pay an extra $3 for an ad free version. The commercials were driving me nuts recently so I did what I had to do, lol[/code]
