Okay, Glover is clearly a trollcast, but everyone is good. It's always nice to see Luis Guzman and did not expect Wart to get his dues. Looking forward to it

Points to Donald Glover for his Yoshi voice.

Sad to see Glover took Kazumi Totaka. They should have cast him instead.

Why is casting Glover a "troll"? Serious question.

I'm gonna say the same thing I thought back went the first movie's cast was revealed. I don't understand why they keep hiring so many big names. I would have expected Mario to have enough star power (🌟) to bring in an audience without needing to rely THIS heavily on celebrity name recognition. At what point does the financial investment of hiring big names reach a plateau? Are there seriously people who wouldn't have otherwise watched this movie without Donald Glover as Yoshi?

For the most part, I have no real issues with the specific individuals (although I still think Chris Pratt sounds exactly the same in every role he takes, which is super boring and uninspiring), so my beef is with the higher powers. Franchises like this could be a big break for non-celebrity voice actors, so it's a real shame when every major role goes to a big celebrity. If one or two major roles went to celebrities who have an actual vocal range? Sure, that's fine. But when it's the entire ensemble? That just reeks of desperation and an excessive budget.

Because you have a funny and charismatic actor and musician playing a cartoon dinosaur that doesn't say anything other than "Yoshi!" when you'd expect that of someone like Frank Welker or Dee Bradley Baker. It's patently ridiculous

I wouldn't call it desperation but they do have the budget so they're just flexing it. Isn't that just standard animated movie practice? Even Sonic does it with their animated characters. It's just a thing they do to attract adults who think they're too old for animation but if they see a real actor in it then maybe they'll give it a chance because hey if Chris Pratt or Idris Elba or Jack Black are cool with doing the movie then it can't be that bad to sit through with the kids for a couple hours.

It’s still not as crazy as Ben Kingsley in a Sonic movie, but it’s definitely up there given Yoshi usually only says one word. Maybe shades of Vin Diesel as Groot.

If they weren’t going to cast any of the orignal voice actors in the first movie they weren’t going to cast Totaka in this.

Such as the orignal voice actors? Who’re are already well known for voicing the characters in the game to the point when Nintendo changed Toad and Donkey Kong’s voices years ago people were divided on them.

Does Yoshi actually talk in the movie? Maybe he learns to talk halfway through and learns more than just "Yoshi" and becomes the wisecracking sidekick. *flashbacks to Super Show Yoshi*

Wonder how long it will be before Mario ditches Yoshi in the movie as that's a strat many a player did back in the 90's.

Not watching now, honestly I don't like Donald Glover he's not that great of an actor anyways and putting him in as Yoshi just sucks so not watching I wasn't thrilled about the original casting choices of the super Mario movie either or the 94 movie live action lol

Sacrificing a Yoshi is always morally acceptable.

The movie looks solid but it still concerns me we’ve barely seen any of Rosalina or elements from the actual Mario Galaxy games in the trailers and it feels like they’re overstuffing this movie with too many references.
