Amusing (and well animated) start. On one hand there is the setting with all kinds of crazy criminals and assassins. The human chairs at the start are a pretty good indicator of how over the top the show is, the bug assassin guy and Hikaru being far more than just a guy good with poison seal the deal. The other part is the romance but I am unsure of how serious I should take that. The start was utterly horrible with Hikaru being a disaster at dating but maybe Mei can make something of it and we will have actual romantic progress. |

Shows like Watamote or Mr Bean are pretty hard to watch for me, so almost bailed out at the perfect pickup line, but luckily it was over pretty fast and they didn't stretch it out so maybe it'll be just fine. Anyway, good going otherwise, the MCs have good interaction, and the world seems fun enough.

I thought the strange fusion of genres was pretty energetic, dumb fun. This weird world of oddly innocent assassin masters is interesting.

Well, it is pretty queer. He is looking for a partner so that his presumably lesbian sister isn't forced to be with a man, and the person he proposes to turns out to be a likely fluid presenting bisexual guy. I presuming the last bits based on how he implied to go after both sexes and change presentation depending on it.
So, off the jump of presuming first love interest, is just going to get with the guy to have both siblings in a same sex relationship? |

Given the princess carry at the end, I think the two leads are ultimately going to be romantic, and I can't imagine the Grandmother who's the driving force between this rush to find a traditional marriage partner and start pumping out biological heirs is going to be too happy about that.

Do you have any idea how messed up my first impression of the show is? The first time I heard about this show was when the anime community was making a ruckus about how Bandai Namco could help co-produce an aesthetically pleasing show like Marriagetoxin, but churn out a turd like One Punch Man S3. And then, I read the synopsis. Boy, you should have seen the look on my face when that happened. And then I mentioned it to my friend who read the manga, and tried to convince me how good it was. Boy, you should have seen the look on my face again when that happened. Nevertheless, I hopped on this anime because everyone seems to be talking about it. Thankfully, it's not that bad. It's fun. The premise is still "ayo" but if I brush it aside and just accept this is some weird rom-com, then sure, it's watchable. Fun, even. I don't know why, but something about the show's ludicrousness reminds me of Akiba Maid War. Man, that show was so much fun to watch. Sure, I'll stick around. Maybe this is just the thing to spice up this season. P.S. Although this show is produced mainly by Bones Film—not to be confused with BONES; it's an offshoot studio, apparently—it looks more like a P.A. Works production imho. Maybe it's the art style. I like it, though. |

E2: I think this one's a keeper, second episode continues the same lighthearted approach to the violent setting and the fairly silly matchmaking scheme. I'm guessing the prospective candidates are all going to be similarly crazy as the two main characters. Looking at the OP, not sure where this is going, whether he's going to end up with the matchmaker, someone else, or if this is just going to end up going nowhere and at the end of the season there's no conclusion. From wikipedia (turns out to be very dangerous, I think I already saw a spoiler there just by glancing the page) it looks like the source material is not finished, so maybe the season will end with no clear conclusion.

For me, the main draw is the somewhat John-Wick-like world where a criminal society with its own rules has been established, combined with some wacked out clans and masters with secrets that basically make them weird-ass superhumans.
The action sequences are fun, and the personal interaction parts aren't boring. |

Ep2
I'm guessing he'll somehow end up dating both the thief and the woman he's fighting now (unless he kills her in ep 3).
For me it evokes fond memories of Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, with its plethora of assassins and the crossdressing Chinese hitman. Whatever, I'm loving it all so far. |

I can see why this show will be a sleeper hit for Spring 2026. Bones Film is sparing no effort in the fight scenes, which I know we will see plenty more of. I can also see some comparisons with John Wick, especially with the contract jobs and assassins involved. Best of all, this show knows how to keep things going, so no scene feels like a drag. If this show keeps going this way, it will be fun to watch. Interestingly, although the episode continues with Gero's quest to find a bride (and hoping it may be Himekawa), it feels like the main point is the Modified Bloodline. It is somewhat the "gift or curse" trope, where a Master has the special ability that comes with a hefty price. That being said, every Master that we shall see will have one, and we will learn what they are.
Funnily enough, I looked through my MAL account and learned that I dropped that show after the first episode. I can't remember why, since the show happened about eight years ago. |

Yeah, I'm having a great time with it. It's not really a serious show for serious folk or anything, but it's here to have a good time and seems to know how to do it. And I have to admit to a laugh at the shark being named Chompsky.
I was also reminded of Maid War- I think it's the combination of nominally gritty topics and rainbow hued visuals. |

E3: Well, that went fairly normally, but I admit I did pause playback at some points fearing foot-in-mouth moments. Fairly tight episode, nothing dragged here. Looks like this is maybe developing to a bit of a world Gero (& Kinosaki) only knows.
It looked like young Kinosaki appeared in the opening at one point in House Gero's "human zoo". |

I was expecting this to be about Gero meeting a succession of different female targets - and I guess that still is what it's going to be about - but I didn't expect Himeka to stick around or that I would like her so much, given how Kinosaki seems to be set up as the main romantic lead.
That Human Zoo seemed like something that would be impossible to pull off as portrayed - on multiple levels - but I can't deny the creepiness of the idea. Also wasn't expecting Gero to be such a sweetheart. Naive, denied experience in a lot of areas, and with his own code of honor, sure. |

Ngl although I know that Himekawa has a shark buddy, I didn't think she was a shark nut. She's basically Jayce from Sentenced to Be a Hero but with sharks. Shout out to the Baby Shark reference too. And I gotta admit: Gero's request to Himekawa was more brilliant than it looks. Rather than going with his original motive and being sneaky about it, he admitted it openly and suggested that they be friends first. That kind of honesty isn't just impressive for the ladies; it's honorable. Props to him for playing it straight. P.S. I have compared this show to Akiba Maid War. I still think it reminds me of that show. But now it also reminds me of Spy × Family in some ways. This should be more obvious in hindsight; I don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier. |
