Scenes from Awajima adapts one of the few Takako Shimura manga that I dropped. Ultimately the interweaving between the short stories (early on) wasn't strong enough to hook me, and I wasn't immediately compelled by them either (probably in part as theres so much media about struggling to make art that its a premise I've somewhat lost interest in, not being an artist).

Still, its a beautiful adaptation and has the advantage that I don't know where its going. Despite feeling all these same issues with this episode, I'll still watch all of it.

...hopefully doesn't set up anything between (Juzo) and Noren...

As someone who's read the Kill Blue manga, spoiler[Juzo is never shown to develop romantic feelings for Noren or any of his fellow classmates, for that matter. This was a concern of mine as well, so I thought others might appreciate knowing.] I haven't seen the episode yet, but the manga was goofy fun, and I look forward to watching it.

Also planning to keep up with Akane-banashi (adore this manga, and they nailed the second episode as well), Witch Hat Atelier (the manga is a delight and the adaptation is gorgeous so far), and continuing on with Digimon Beatbreak (probably the most fun I've had with a Digimon series since Frontier).

I haven't read the manga for MAO or Daemons of the Shadow Realm, but the first episodes kept me entertained throughout, so I look forward to seeing where they go. I'm not expecting "the next FMA" out of Daemons, but knowing it's written by Hiromu Arakawa is certainly a bonus. And the Inuyasha vibes in MAO are unmistakable, but I'm not complaining about it, lol.

Wait, Kill Blue has a Dub on Prime? How have I not heard anything about this? It’s weird that the show is available on multiple platforms but the Dub is exclusive to one.

It appears to be on Netflix with the dub, as well. Not sure what's going on with that.

Only a few premieres left I think, then comes the task of deciding what to drop or not.

Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? I disliked due to the annoying abomination that is Kujima yet I still want to see more for some reason. How annoying can he get?

Kill Blue seems like a lot of dumb fun. Over the top action, old man jokes and possibly a mystery to solve sounds like a good time. The mc discovering that he loves learning and doing homework was a strong moment.

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King has me feeling mixed. The jokes did not land with me at all but the premise of Serafina learning how her views concerning the barbarians are incorrect and maybe questioning the nature of the war could be interesting.

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk is about enjoying some good liquor and possible a bit of yuri bait here and there. Add the charming presentation and it is likely to be a fun time.

The Drops of God did not hook me. It is very over the top and cheesy but I felt bored by the end. Maybe my love for wine is too weak.

Now I get why people say that Daemon is meant to be confusing. Not even the protagonist understands what is the world they are living so far. Still, the second episode hooked me.

Second episode of Daemons of the Shadow Realm definitely had more of a punch, both in terms of meatier and weightier action and giving a better sense of the scope of the world. The comedy though seems like it'll be very hit or miss in conjunction with the ultraviolence, a young girl comedically fainting while the body of her decapitated mother is constantly on-screen probably doesn't land how they mean it to

And I'm glad Akanebanashi decided to sober up for its second episode. Could count the number of needless vignetting on one hand rather than it happening 20+ times

Second episode of Bookworm just skipped over the cliffhanger from the first episode which was really weird and confusing. Was it like this in the books or is the anime just making a weird choice?

I don't have an answer to your question but I thought that was strange too. I initially supposed the episode was time-skipping and would circle back to the ending later, but when that didn't happen I wondered whether the takeaway was just supposed to be that the new setting is spoiler[ taking an increasing toll on Myne's body]. Still a pretty jarring transition, or a very weird attempt at dark humor.

Completely unrelated: on the topic of VA, those Fist of the North Star previews have me interested in watching a dub version for the first time in a long time. Sounds like it will make everything happening on-screen even more ridiculous. And I can already tell from the first episodes of Witch Hat Atelier that Rena Motomura is going to be an MVP this season. That's some of the most impressive, nuanced voice acting I've heard in a while.

I felt like I was in a weird trance while watching the second episode of Need Girl Overdose. It bounces wildly between preachy and grotesque, and I'm still not fully sure how in on the joke either the show or the audience are supposed to be. And then it hit me. It's arthouse brainrot exploitation cinema. It's girlypop grindhouse wearing a Hello Kitty hoodie to hide the self-harm scars. I feel like I need this show to hold my head underwater for 24 minutes weekly for 3 months before I know if it's good or not.

...Not sure what I'll do about Reborn As a Rib Roast. I liked the varied art styles and could appreciate the jabs it hurled, but the goddess's utter boredom with it all was kind of infectious? If she had some sass or personality or some proof of life, say along the lines of Aqua or any number of other reincarnation goddesses, it would've gone a long way toward making this funny...
A little late I know. I hoped this would be funny but had much the same reaction as you and Mr. Eisenbeis. The problem seemed to me both that the jokes were thrown out too fast and without enough lead-in or follow-up to land properly and that the commentary was too dry, so it killed any potential for humor. Stupid and unfunny means I bounce and I honestly couldn't think of how someone might like this unless it changes drastically in Ep2. Definitely not like Pop Team Epic...

Someone might have already asked this. I was wondering if previewing the first two episodes of an anime season was a one and done experiment from last season?

If so I was curious what the metric was for deciding it wasn't worth it. Too much work? Not enough positive feedback?

Two-episode guides are currently limited to sponsorship. They cost double what a normal guide nets because participants are paid per episode review.
