I watched this series on a whim six months ago and had a great time with it. Despite the short length of its episodes, it somehow manages to pack in a whole lot of plot and characterization that makes this retro-future/cyberpunk setting and the people who live in it pretty engaging. Even if it doesn't fully explain things like why 80 yen is now considered a huge sum of money or why sugar seems to be illegal, since that still helps to flesh out the setting.
Apparently she's not, since the creator YoHey has said that Makina still has her human brain and pituitary gland both intact, so despite her appearance she's more of a cyborg than a full robot. |

Makina may be a cyborg, but she looks like an android, which is underscored by the motto on her letter jacket: “Dreams of e-sheep”.
Plus she, or her system ends up rebooting a couple of times. The show is utterly charming, with tons of Easter eggs throughout. |

The theme song was done in 1977 by the Candies, called Gingakei Made Tonde Ike!(Fly to the Galaxy!)

I thought this would be just a throw away short I could fall asleep too, but it turned out to be one of my favorites of the season. I hope we get more in the future =)
Thanks! I forgot to search it out while watching it |

Watched Milky Highway the other day, and just got through this on my lunch break. 10/10 would ride the Milky Subway again.
Probably my only complaint is that they all talk sodamnfastallthetimeandit'skindofhardtofollowwithoutsubtitles. Butotherthanthatit'sgreat. This could easily be recut as a feature if they just slowed down the dialogue and gave it a little more room to breathe. But then the spoiler[previously on] gag in the last episode wouldn't work, so maybe not as much. Basically just go watch it now from the playlist on YouTube, the format is fine. |

Actually, it was recut into a movie form and put in theaters here in Japan. It basically has newly animated additional scenes following the police officer where the credits for each episode should be. |

Oh that's interesting. I hope if there's a home release it has both cuts |

Same here. Watched it straight through last night. Hilarious. Entertaining on multiple levels. Want more. Sequel in the works. Wish it was out now. |

The movie version is now available on Netflix (in the US at least).
