I’m not sure what to make of this one. I like the simple art style, and there’s something pleasant and soothing about the music and colors. I like slice of life where a strange - usually supernatural - being interjects themself into a main character's normal life. Of course, the beings are usually cute (Mushroom Pup, etc) and go with the soothing aesthetic.
The soothing effect here is a bit disrupted and jangled (at least for me) by the constant sight of what looks like a Looney Tunes penguin that survived being run over by a bulldozer. I'm not talking about story logic - though I might in a second - I'm talking about visual logic. Like if With You and the Rain suddenly had a tanuki that looked like a Cartoon Network creation interacting with all of the realistically rendered people instead of one that looked like an actual racoon dog (I looked them up because of this show) with a leaf on its head. It's distracting. Presumably if I stick with this anime I might get used to it over time. As far as family calmly accepting the presence of this talking thing that’s clearly supernatural or alien, I assume it's supposed to make the everyday events quirky and charming and fable-like as other anime that I have liked have done, and it does, but in such a low-key way that I'm kind of bored so far. I might give this another shot, but I'm still a bunch of anime behind. |

It is a quirky start for sure. Seems like it will be a healing anime with the fractured family growing closer again due to the unpredictable and sometimes illegal acts of Kujima. Given how chill everyone seems to be with a giant walking/talking bird I can only assume that the setting has more unique creatures. It is likely going to be a decent watch but I am unsure if I can fit it in my already overly long watch list.

What a weird show. I find Kujima to be very annoying and crazy loud yet I also find myself looking forward to what crazy stuff he gets up to. This week that included proverbs, failed cooking and a bit of horror. The horror bit was a surprise in that it was a mix of Kujima being extra annoying (god that screech) plus some Ring like scares. |

I like it but not completely sold. I've watched the first two episodes, but it's going in an anime folder I call The Fridge where it will rest until I decide to pick it up again at some indeterminate point in the future. In a less busy season, it would be in my Currently Airing folder, but not this season.

Out of all the possibilities what Kujima might actually be the seal suggestion is quite something. The episode did make me wonder if he can fly given that he plans to return to Russia someday. The childhood friend is the first person to react to Kujima in a realistic manner: freaked out. As for Suguru. did he only have that one school lined up as an option? |

A surprisingly wholesome episode. Kujima might be overly loud and a rather unique creature but the show still manages to be plenty fluffy (even Suguru is mellowing out a little). I also got an answer in that Kujima can't fly but is great at swimming. |

Man does Kujima go from being sometimes charming...ish to other times being as loud and annoying as possible. I chuckled seeing Ruiko get the better of him constantly, she knows how to deal with him perfectly. |

That first half felt a bit weird mood/vibe wise. Something about the music combined with the disturbing Kujima disguise and gaslighting that teacher felt a bit horror-like. I am thankful that it did not end with the teacher having a mental breakdown. |

An effective episode for making me think back to my own exam fears and how fun that whole period was. I do think that Kujima being added to the family helped Suguru, before he arrived the whole family was constantly walking on eggshells and the vibe in the house was awkward at best. |
