A soft reboot of some kind? I like the character designs a lot more than 3's and it looks more interesting than what we got with 3 so hopefully it turns out good.

Could also be a Ring World or even a Dyson Sphere since six suns is quite frankly a lot. |

Also wouldn't be surprised to see the Xenoblade X cast to drop in to REALLY confuse people because Takahashi is like that

Since Genesis is in the title I'm guessing this is a "new" Standalone World/Universe? Would be crazy if the X cast showed up at the end but I don't think I saw 6 suns at the end of the Extra content of X. I also don't see any Nopon's around but we did see another furry race for less then a second. I'm already intrigued because it's giving off Fire-Emblem 3 Houses vibes.
Also finally an upgrade for XC2! That game needed it the most. But I did not see if it included it's standalone expansion nor for XC3's expansion either. And I looked at the eShop too. |

Some staff has already been confirmed, with Takahashi being executive director again and Yasuda back as one of the composers, while there are two new character designers replacing Saito.
It's also been all but confirmed that this is a new continuity and isn't connected to the numbered games, likely not to X either. Details are otherwise scarce at the moment, so I guess there'll be more maybe after 3's Switch 2 edition gets released (unless it turns out to be an early 2027 release). |

But if it somehow gives me Phog as a proper anime boy the way God intended I'll take any contrivance Takahashi throws at us.

Probably the best announcement of the show for me. I can't wait to play another xenoblade game. Really looking forward to exploring the world
I didn't even think of connecting it to X, but I could see that. I think a clean slate would be good though... unless it meant we got giant robots... A dyson sphere was also the first thing that popped in to my head, but it seems way too small, though it could be something similar to one in idea/design. Could be another design (like an O'Neill cylinder), but It's hard to know the shape at this point without being able to see more.
From what I've read, if you buy the upgrade for the base game (2 & 3), then it also upgrades the expansions for 2 & 3. |

My first thought was an O’Neil Cylinder, with the six suns thing being some artificial sunlight apparatus. It’s interesting that the character designs are most very conventional, high-fantasy elfs (with a few beast men thrown in for good measure). It’s unusual given how all of the prior games went in their own direction with the fantasy races, rather than adhering to genre conventions. My assumption is that they went with the generic high fantasy designs to better juxtapose against the science-fiction elements, so I’m expecting this one to be the most Sci-Fi entry in the series, outside of XCX. And I don’t know that it necessarily needs to be a reboot. It could be a space colony or generation ship that was further away from the event (no spoilers here) that kicked off events of later games, and was therefore affected differently. Alternatively it could be a prequel (though I hope not; prequels are boring) depicting whatever led up to inciting incident. Of course this may just be wishful thinking on my part. “An RPG set on a generation ship so old that the inhabitants have forgotten they’re on a ship, where magic is just what happens when you utilize the ship’s functions,” isn’t just the premise of an old Star Trek episode: it’s also one of the RPG ideas I’ve been dying to see since I was a kid. (Largely inspired by that aforementioned Star Trek episode, along with Scrapped Princess and Wild Arms.) |

^I'm thinking something similar. A story similar story how X starts but someone on the ship decided to go mad with power and is now "god" and erased the true history of the ship/colony. Maybe a spoiler[mirror universe to X like how 1 and 2 are]? But the naming scheme doesn't fit, I would think they would choose Xenoblade Y if they where spoiler[mirror universes. ]
