Sorry to say this, but a few of those figures on the 4th pic are definitely NSFW.

Baccano! was really good. But it was confusing how it jumped around a lot throughout the show but all in all it was really good. also Heroic Age was really good too. The best fight was the very first one with the worms! GIANT BLUE MONSTER FTW!!! lol

That's it for this week. I'm going to go cry in the shower.

Assuming you can get in there? Wink

...

Baccano! keeps sounding really cool, if a little violent. I'll need to look into checking it out... one of these days... Confused

I haven't watched any of these animes all the way through. I have seen about half of Heroic Age and one episode of Ragnarok- and I have to say I agree with the reviewer on both accounts. Ragnarok seemed like it was ripped straight from an RPG, and so I told my friend about it because I knew we would get a kick out of making fun of it. On the other hand, I'm about half way through Heroic Age, and I thought I would really like it. I was very impressed with the creative first episode, so much so that I have labeled it "Best first episode from a series I have never heard of". I was really confused because no one ever talks about this show, but it seemed like it could be amazing. Unfortunately, the reviewer is correct when they say it seems to lose its focus. As of episode 12 the show seems mired in a slow downward freefall. Nothing terrible, but it consistently gets more predictable and the animation seems to keep dropping. Also, any comedy seems forced and the characters are very generic. Like the reviewer, I hope this one turns around, because if the first couple episodes are any indication it has very high potential.. Has anyone seen the whole thing to confirm or deny my fears?

I am in the waiting for the bathroom (where my flatmate is taking another of his epic showers) situation as I type this, knowing I am meant to be attending class in short order. I guess I need to ask, is there at least a household substitute for brushing your teeth?

Yup, not work safe, not school safe either. Anyho, I really want to jump on the Baccano bandwagon but my viewing schedule is packed. Oh, and I loved the line "He is basically Jesus, if Jesus were a giant biorobot with gnashing teeth."

My ex boyfriend used to take 45 minute showers. There's just something unsavory about dudes who shower for too long.

Seeing a fellow European with so many R1 titles gives me Shelf envy. Nice to see somebody with the elusive Key: The Metal Idol boxset.

The other day, I had to use that trick where you rub baby powder in your hair to cheat not taking a shower

I'm astounded. This tip could solve many of my appearance-related problems.

Yeah, Baccano Vol. 3 should arrive in my mail tomorrow, along with Last Exile. Looking forward to it. Also ordered Heroic Age (along with a bunch of other Funi DVDs as well) in Rightstuf's sale.

Were those Japanese DVDs of Shakugan no Shana for Season 1 or 2? (I want Season 2 so bad, come on, Funi/Geneon!)

I'd rather have guys take 45 min. showers (although that's incredibly wasteful) rather than not shower at all, or maybe every other month, as many con-attendees seem to do.

Baccano just keeps getting better and better. I remember that when I started this series, I thought to myself: "There's no way in hell I'm going to be able to keep track of all these characters!" Now, not only am I able to keep track of them, I'm also emotionally invested in most of them! And that's saying something, considering each character may only get five minutes at a time during each episode...

(Oh, and Haruka is indeed the bee's knees.)

so Bamboo... I should worry if you smell like baby-powder? Wink
and this is why I live alone... so no competition for the bathroom. Doesn't matter how long the shower is, if it inconveniences the other person. Tell boyo THAT. On the other hand, I don't go in for a good long soak in the tub, so it would balance out. You don't soak in the tub to get clean, you do that to relax. Same with a long shower.

Still he has a responsibility to you, Bamboo, good luck with that.

I saw the trailers for heroic age and listening to the overwraught epic beginning, and thought meh, but maybe I'll give it a chance...

And boy, are there a lot of image songs in the last episode. If you like the music in this series, you are in luck, because every time there is a major battle, there is a woman crooning in the background.

You're going to make me go back & watch the last dvd just to see if it was chicks or dudes singing? I have the character cd for a later series & it's mostly dudes & as I recall all the insert songs on this series were character songs (done by the VA's) & not image songs (done by other artists about the characters). I thought it was Okiayu on the last dvd...Miki, Miyata & Seki were earlier. Even the opening & closing songs are done by the VA's.
The title's dating sim really came out on the last dvd. I gave up on the alternate endings extra after 2 tries (Miki's character was just uncomfortable & Miyata's was damned squishy--felt like child molestation) because it ran thru the ending credits so it took wauy too long & anything other than Seki's character was just wrong (except for Okiayu who WASN'T one of the choices)

Tenma's ending is the best. And makes the most sense, if you consider the amount of time he spent together with Akane. (Not playing favorites here - Eisen was my favorite.)

As for image songs, I seem to recall Shirin's being played during a crucial scene in the last disc, so that's probably what Bamboo is referring to.
