Anime on blu-ray seems to have caught on. That's a massive jump.

More detail on Blu-ray sales:

Anime Blu-ray Sales for the First Half of 2010 as tabulated and announced by Oricon for the weeks Dec. 28, 2009 through Jun. 21, 2010.

Legend: Anime sales ranking/2010 Half-year Sales/North American Title (Japanese Title if different)

*1 410,691 Evangelion: 2.22 You Can [Not] Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijouban Ha)
*2 *92,944 Kidou Senshi Gundam UC Vol. 1
*3 *76,223 Summer Wars
*4 *57,123 Bakemonogatari Vol. 4 Nadeko Snake Limited Edition
*5 *52,886 Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone (Evangelion Shin Gekijouban Jo) EVANGELION:1.11
*6 *51,976 Bakemonogatari Vol. 5 Tsubasa Cat Part One Limited Edition
*7 *36,626 K-ON! Vol. 7
*8 *35,823 Up (Carl-jiisan no Soratobu Ie)
*9 *34,366 Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~
10 *32,591 K-ON! Vol. 6
11 *18,976 Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Vol. 1 Limited Edition
12 *17,740 Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Vol. 2 Limited Edition
13 *16,937 Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Vol. 4 Limited Edition
14 *16,856 Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Vol. 3 Limited Edition

So where's the R1 licensor for Summer Wars? Bakemonogatari has been a consistent performer since it was first shown on Japanese television. R1 licensor? None that I know of. Source? I can't say here, but it's a well-known fansub forum.

I have to say, that is awesome. Over a 1/4 of sales.

This seems to be excellent news, especially with a 111% jump in the remainder of sales. It's a lot better to hear than a lot of the gloomy stuff we come across.

So much for the dying anime industry. Laughing

Great news. Now, please include English subtitles in your DVDs and Blu-ray, so that people all over the world can directly buy the JP publications.

I've heard of a few that do have English subtitles, but they aren't exactly formatted correctly. A shade better than a bootleg I'm sure though!
