I liked that the tricky thief wasn't captured or awestruck by the main character. A cat burglar (pun regretted) and an appraiser do seem like mutually beneficial character classes.

As to the lack of a framing device, I suspect that whatever the brunette is all obsessed about is going to wind up being a whole big thing, if not the whole big thing before the end of the season.

*watched two episodes* Ow wow, this is some top tier trash. On one hand its absolutely trash and has no business being associated with good anime. But on the other it has the right balance of absurd, silly and taking itself seriously that makes it fun. Though how long it can run on the giant breasts gag before tiring the rest of the production remains to be seen. Onward to more episodes.

I wonder how long the show can make me forgive it giving super make everything better skills to the main character.

Ep5-One might be tempted to think the show was getting a bit depraved when it drops a line of dialog such as "I'll have the HeRowellCome...Honey pancake that makes you love Hanicome-kun"...who is Rowell, what do you mean "coming", is "honey" a euphemism and what is the relationship to Hanicome-kun and what makes you "love" them?? How disappointing that it is just the bizarre (AI??) English subtitle version but the actual audio is quite clearly "Hello, Welcome, Fall in love (with) honeycomb Honey Pancake"... Embarassed

@Cryten - Top tier trash is a pretty good way of describing the show.

As a veteran watcher of 5 episodes, I can say that the boobsey twins are still hanging around, but the number of buttons killed in the making of this anime has gone down dramatically.

Also, so far, the MC isn't OP in the usual trash isekai sense and remains dependent on supporters, though that may change considering the title of the show.

Just popping in to say this is my only isekai of the season and I'm enjoying it. I feel a bit bad for Chest Aplenty because she thinks she's finally made a friend and apparently she hasn't. How does a gal with gazongas like that not have a ton of male "friends"???

Likely the combination of that maid plus Emalia being pretty harsh with her comments. She did roast Hibiki several times.

In the real world, being harsh with comments does not overpower the majesty of bigg'uns... that's right Strongest Job - I'm calling out your sense of realism! Wink

It's certainly character development that she found a slightly larger shirt that's not an imminent shrapnel hazard.

Anyway, all sorts of funny crap continues in E5 and I'm OK with this even if the main plot doesn't progress, if the director continues to pull all the stops to sustain laughs or at least mild chuckles. The MC is not receiving too much glazing here, Emalia has her own side story that doesn't appear to rotate around the MC, and Claude and Lilian are doing their part, so this is above average in its class also in that aspect.

Things went from chill to pretty dire. Iver was already pretty suspect in the previous episodes and this week she went evil baddy mode. I could complain that Hibiki is getting lots of overpowered abilities out of nowhere but given that the gods are actively trying to keep him alive despite the dangers he has to deal with I think it is okay. It also helps that said abilities are with severe downsides in how often they can be used.

Yah, I knew Anastasia was going to show up eventually, but I thought she was the one the brunette was communicating with, not...you know.

So, the sacred animal summons makes kitty become a killing machine but for like half a minute tops.

And the spirit bow basically gives Hibiki the same power as the elf maiden and maybe makes it easier for him to aim, which I think is his first directly offensive power.

I'm assuming that next week the mountainous (koff) I mean, mountain elf, is going to find out she's become engaged to some scumbag or something like that. It'd be nice to have her do something other than travel and bathe while Thirsty the Maid goes through her worn out routine one more time.

I guess Iver was doomed by her name, but I still somehow didn't expect quite this given that in the ED she's shown quite chummy with the others. Or maybe they will make up somehow, but that seems rather a big hurdle when she's more or less trying to feed them to the wolves.

Anyway, plot is moving forward, but being serious is not really this show's forte.

Nothing much is happening on Emilia's side, and one doesn't have to be a seer to guess why she's been called home.

I think we've solved the mystery of Emilia's mysterious inability to find a fitting shirt. Anybody else notice that she'd finally gotten a button up shirt that fit, but after hanging around in a room where Thirsty the Maid had access to her wardrobe, her shirt mysteriously became several sizes too small again?

Why, I haven't been so simultaneously proud and ashamed of myself since I solved the mystery of the flashing panties.

The god (small g) shenanigans explain a lot about the internal illogic of the world they're overseeing. I did catch that the blonde dude on the throne seemed to be hinting that Hibuki was someone they knew. A reincarnation of a god? A god who got depowered and mind wiped and sent somewhere else? One of those good demon lords they were talking about?

Given how utterly thirsty the maid is I suppose it only makes sense. I appreciate the show not having Emilia get put into a cliche marriage situation. Her bolting and saying no thanks to the whole arrangement fits.

Hibiki having some type of past with the gods makes sense. The amount of support he is getting is rather absurd even when compared to most other isekai. The gods are actively aiding him when the situation calls for it.

Hibiki made some good friends in that town, some are a bit out there though. That goes especially for the financial success sniffer. It was surprising to see just how much aid Bals and Jewel have provided over the weeks. The gang is now ready to tackle that dungeon with their new gear (plus power ups).

Most interesting bit is at the end with Hibiki's friends and family seemingly being along for the isekai ride and knowing that Hibiki is there.

The last few seasons seem to have at least one show each that seemed would have been "bad" but had a surprising level of quality in writing and artwork (sometimes) and due to reviewer comments in the Preview rated near the bottom. Not that they were "great, actually" and this one is no different and yet I too look forward to it each week with more relish than "better" fare such as Re:Zero.Shows how far that has fallen?

I had been wondering who the "goth girl" character who figures in the ED is and why they are prominent in the starting card for each episode and mid EP1 it seemed they might have been one of his acquaintances (??). EP3 we find that the voice that sent Elf Gurl to him was "God", then EP5 had mention of a new group advancing fast through ranks like Hibiki and friends and EP7 has the Godly Confab mentioning them again and dropping mysterious hints relative to Demon Lord Candidates. EP8 here briefly reveals said group are indeed his acquaintances.

These are earmarks of better writing than most "trash isekai" stories and that the writer knows how to keep audiences engaged as the mysteries unfold and give enough background on the characters that we can care what happens next. He has given thought to the larger world the microcosm of characters fits in and at the present pace I think we will get to see a satisfying amount of it.
