Have you ever cried reading manga? I mean, not just "there's a little moisture in my eyes," but really cried, as in crocodile tears and runny noses and all that?

There's only 2 manga in my whole life that made me cry like that. I don't know it they're available in the U.S., but if they are, I can recommend them to absolutely everyone!

The first one is 7SEEDS vol. 4 by Yumi Tamura, author of BASARA.
7SEEDS is a post-apocalyptic survival manga, but vol. 4, story about the Winter Team made me cry with its brutality and the beauty of spoiler[giving your life for somebody else... ] All the other volumes in this series are equally compelling and I think the whole series is a total masterpiece greater than even BASARA, but this volume was especially moving.

The second manga that made me cry is "Kimi ni Todoke" vol. 2 by Karuho Shina. This series is an excellent high school shoujo manga with a pureness that's like a breath of fresh air. The main character Sawako (aka Sadako) is a girl that might remind you of Sunako of The Wallflower at first glance, although their true personalities are nothing alike. Everyone at her high school avoids Sadako and she has zero friends because there's a rumor that she can curse anyone who comes close. But the most popular guy in class (and he's a REALLY NICE guy) befriends her, and through him she gets the courage to talk to her classmates and try to make them understand her true self.
The whole series (I've read to vol. 4) is so far so good, but not actually a masterpiece material EXCEPT for vol. 2.

Vol. 2 of "Kimi ni Todoke" is a volume that focuses on friendship, and I've never read a manga that made me cry not just in my first reading but every time I reread it. Sadako is really such a nice person, but black rumors at school and some minor misunderstandings are tearing apart her budding friendship with her two girl classmates.
Sadako's confrontation in the girls' bathroom with the girls spreading rumors and what happens afterwards made me cry so hard.
「・・・しってる? 友達ってね 気づいたら もう なってんの!あたしらもう 友達だったんだよ」

Manga that's so good that it makes you cry is few and far between, so if there are any others, I'd like to know!

I cried at the end of Azumanga Daioh. It wasn't a sad ending, spoiler[but when I saw Chiyo in one of the last panels quietly realize, even though they're going their separate ways, they're still together, it was just so heartwarming.] I shed a few tears.

There are so many things in Fruits Basket that made me come close to tears. For example, spoiler[the part where Momiji explains to Tohru that his mom wanted her memory to be erased because she couldn't stand the thought of her son being a Zodiac member. I just felt so bad for him; I wanted to give Momiji a hug.]

In Cardcaptor Sakura, the story about spoiler[Sakura getting tricked by a card that disguises itself as Nadeshiko (her mom) made me feel sad. Especially so when Sakura cries at the end.]

[Edit: Added spoiler tags. Remember not everyone has seen or read what you have, if it's a major plot point put spoiler tags around it. - Keonyn]

One of the stories in the middle of Mushishi made me bawl buckets. spoiler[when the guy who could predict the future lost his wife and daughter]

The end ofDescendants of Darkness made me cry but for a different reason! *WTF is up with licensing unfinshed, abandoned series'?* Evil or Very Mad

Well most that brought tears to my eyes are the usual tear jerker dramas and romantic comedies. Watching the relationships blossom or have problems, or the dramatic moments where friends help each other through hard times etc etc. Some of the series that do that for me are *list removed~Zalis* to name a few.

That was exactly what I was about to say because after that Gantz became really depressing for a while, then Izumi came Evil or Very Mad to try liven things up.

There really hasn't been other manga that have touched me enough to make me cry Crying or Very sad but I guess I just need to find one that can.

Holy Cow! Where do I start?

I like the girly stuff so a lot of that does make one cry. I've cried while reading *list removed~Zalis*.

All of those have made me cry at one point or another. And in the future, I'll find others that will make me cry as well.

From what I understand the series is on hiatus. But if you dig around the internet there are additional chapters to read (translated into english!). Unfortunately there seems to be no ending. That made me cry too! That and spoiler[I cried when the catus died protecting Hisoka. Noble little guy!

I also cried when Hughes died in FMA. (I would be surprised if no one knew that.) ]

I'm sure there's more but I can't remember right now.

[Edit: Surprised if no one knew it or not, if it's something someone wouldn't want to know it's best to put it in spoiler tags to play it safe. - Keonyn]

I'm not sure how many people here have heard the name Mito Orihara (yeah, I should add more of her works... Anime catgrin + sweatdrop ) and her Shinjitsu no Kandō series (「真実の感動」シリーズ; roughly "Truly Touching"), with non-fictional stories adapted from real cases. One of them is the surrogate motherhood case of famous model/actress Aki Mukai (向井 亜紀), who was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she had her first baby; to save her life she was forced to abort the baby and remove the entire uterus. You don't need to be a pregnant woman to understand how emotionally devastating it was.

She then started looking for surrogate motherhood, which was (and still is) illegal in Japan, in foreign countries, and finally arranged one successfully in Nevada. Her twins, who were born in Nevada in November 2003, are still considered Americans and ARE NOT AND WILL NEVER BE JAPANESE OR SONS OF MUKAI/TAKADA'S (Takada is her husband's family name, and so is her legal family name, but she continues using her maiden family name in public because she was famous before marriage; this is quite common in Japanese showbiz) by the Japanese government, which insisted the definition of "mother" is "whoever bores the children" and pronounced the defeat of Takadas on the lawsuit on March 23, 2007. Crying or Very sad

I'm sorry about that. I thought that I did use the spolier code, but I guess I messed that up. (Should have previewed it.)

Thanks to the editor for correcting my mistake.

Apologies to anyone else I managed to irritate.
