This is a short list of what I consider the most cherished classic anime series and franchises that debuted between 2000 and 2008. I am using the term "new classic" because even though these series appeared within the last 15 years, they are already classics because they have an important place in the fandom.

Feel free to add suggestions in the comments.

EDIT: I just realized I wrote Inuyaha instead of Inuyasha. I apologize for that.

You forgot many classics from the period:

- Haibane Renmei (2002)
- RahXephon (2002)
- Texhnolyze (2003)
- Planetes (2003)
- Monster (2004)
- Gankutsuou (2004)
- Honey and Clover (2005)
- Mushishi (2006)
- Ergo Proxy (2006)
- Aria: The Origination (2008)
- Kaiba (2008)

Are classics that come to my mind right now. Series you choose I would regard as teenager/kiddie material like Inuyasha and Code Geass, The Melancholoy of Haruhi Suzumiya are pretty weak stuff IMO.

Like the other poll you created. I choose Inuyasha, If this voting system to select multiple anime, I would've also chosen Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Death Note, and Ghost in the shell.

Most of the series you list are great, but my objective here is to only include the 10 titles from that period I consider have resonated the most within the fandom.

I actually think the 2000-2008 period has produced the largest number of high quality anime series. Several of my favorites did not make it into this poll.

Bakemonogatari

Smart, different, visual feast, taboo creating, varied.

Gotta represent the Shinbo, he's coloring our modern era whether you like it or not.

I went with Gurren Lagann. Now, if the question weren't "which is your favorite" and was, instead "which do you think will be the most enduring?", I'd have to pick Fullmetal Alchemist 2003, even with Brotherhood out, everyone seems to agree that 2003 is still required anime viewing.

These polls do not have an option to show how people voted do they?
I voted when the poll was first posted and I cannot remember if I voted for Haruhi or Inuyasha.
I could have chosen either one.

I did not like Ghost in the Shell as well as either of those two, and I did not care much for Gurren Lagann.
I have not seen the others.

I LOVE Bakemonogatari (and Monogatari is one of my favorite anime franchises). Bakemonogatari is not on the list because it falls out of my 2000-2008 parameter.

Monogatari is on my poll of top series/franchise of the last 5 years.

Although I picked GITS, I do wonder if it is an old classic, future classic, or just an ongoing show.

I haven't seen all of them, so going by what I have seen, I would have to say that I liked GITS the most followed by FMA and then Haruhi. However the poll I felt could have been expanding a bit more. I agree it should have had Bakemonogatari at least.
