ANN is proud to announce a new feature to it's website. A comprehensive events calendar for past, present, and future events across the globe!
animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/events.php ANN is attempting to create the most complete list of anime and manga events that have taken place for roughly the past 15 years. We're also attempting to increase our coverage of events taking place around the world. We're in the process of setting up submission guidelines for people to submit incomplete information about the calendar and what needs to be added. It has a complete schedule of events currently for 2003, but it doesnt yet have all the data for this year(full guest list, actual venue). I plan to get this implemented shortly. What I've been working on is inputing data from early past conventions(AnimeCon, all the Anime Expos, Anime America, Anime East, Otakon). You'll see them in the past events section. I'm looking for assistance in acquiring information on past events around the globe. Here's the basic information I'm looking for for events. Name of Event, Date, Location(Venue, city, state/province, country), Guests, & the Attendance. Hopefully, people see this project as complimentary to other well known anime event calendars such as fansview.com, cosplay.com, or adequate.com/anime rather then competition. Each of our sites has information and content that is unique to itself so I hope everyone visits them. I will be privately emailing all the anime events around the world about entering data about their current and past events. It will probably be in late April after my own convention is done when I'll be doing those emails. If you have any suggestions on how to improve this feature, by all means post it here. Here's a suggestion.... not sure how difficult this would be, but would it be possible to have the listings sortable? It looks like it will be quite an extensive list & the ability to sort by event name, location or date would be very helpful for people looking for events in their area. Just a thought.
