Toshio Okada, when he was teaching "otaku culture" at Tokyo University in 1995, said it was his deliberate aim to brainwash the next generation of young Japanese leaders. It looks like ten years later his efforts have borne fruit.

Brainwash eh? That's not a word I take lightly. |
It does sound rather theatrical, but the term is Okada's; he even wrote a book called THE BRAINWASHING SOCIETY in which he analysed the battle for minds and worldviews in the contemporary world.
