spoiler[Generally Watari contacts this orphanage with really intelligent kids when he was about to die. these two kids who look very eerily like L now try to get Kira, etc. and one of them gets hold of one of the Death Notes and Raito somewhat teams with the other]

Wrong. spoiler[Here's how L dies and how the aftermath works out: Basically, Light traps Rem in a manner of speaking. She wants to protect Misa but L has figured out Misa was one of the Kiras. So Rem has no choice but to kill L and Watari, causing herself to die in the process. L dies in Light's arms. Light smirks as he dies...L's last thought is "I...was wrong?" Light then becomes L. 24 hours later a computer transmits the message "L is dead" to the Wammy House, an orphanage of geniuses run by Watari (who was actually a billionaire). The two brightest students in the orphanage, Mello and Near, are told. L had never designated a successor so they are both given the title. Light finds Rem's remains and steals her Death Note. The team has no idea what happened. Three years later Mello and Near come after Light trying to get revenge. They don't work together, however...In the mean time, Light gets a new Kira to work with him, a prosecutor named Mikami. Misa gives up the Death Note and becomes Light's oblivious girlfriend. Light kills the President of the USA, prompting pretty much every country in the world to declare their approval of Kira and stop investigating him. Mello and Near become outlaws and Kira gains power. He now has countless rabid followers and his own television program. That's about it.] |
