Alright, so I just finished watching the TV series and OVAs. And God, do they leave you hanging with those last ten seconds. T____T Anyway, I know that the story continues in the manga, and was wondering if someone could tell me around what volume or chapter I should start reading, continuing from the Greed Island arc. I'll probably read from the beginning anyway, but I'd just like to know around what point it covers material past the anime.

Also, just curious: what are the chances that any more animation for HxH be produced? I've heard about the creator's illlness and it's declining popularity in Japan already.

The anime leaves off at chapter 185 of the manga, somewhere in volume 18.
There have been rumours that a new OVA of chapters 186 up untill somewhere around 240 will be made this or the next year. And they will split that arc up in 2 OVA's. But nothing official on that.

I'm not sure about declining popularity tho, the latest volume 23 was only outsold by Bleach in the same week. And that week still had 20th Century Boys, Vagabond and the new Eyeshield 21.

If you're gonna start reading the manga, better wait (or make sure) you read the volumes. Because the SJ chapters are mostly drafts. Really bad artwork. But he re-draws them once a volume is compiled and those are back to his usual skill-level.
The NGL Arc (as its being called) starts off pretty weird, and its not untill the latest 20-ish chapters it all starts falling in to place. I wasnt too crazy about it myself in the beginning, but looking back (and the arc still isnt over yet) I have to say it was a good one. Maybe not Ryodan level; but imo definitely on par with Greed Island at least.
