I found out recently that the VHD movies are actually based on novels that were written a long while ago by a guy named Hideyuki Kikuchi.
Okay, so that might have drawn a resounding "duhh!" from a lot of you, but I only learnt of it after looking at a site on the web. So have the novels ever been translated and released in the west? Because I'd sure like to read them. Has anyone else read or maybe come across them? |

Here's a thread of mine that initially talked about Bloodlust the movie, and it eventually talks about the novels a little bit. But to save you the time in looking, I think the answer is "no."

Nope. A lot of us are just waiting for these, as well as other novels that anime were based on, to get licensed here. Eample: Junni Kokki, Boogiepop Phantom, Full Metal Panic. |

It will get here sooner or later. All you got to do is wait...for how long I don't know.

I dunno about that. Although I can hope that Tokyopop's novel releases do well, I'm not holding my breath. In order for those novels to come out here, I think there would have to be a big run on some other novels first. If ADV decides to invest that way, I think there is a much better chance at seeing those happen if the bring the FMP! and the Maburaho novels out first. (or at least some company take the first step at bringing out novels that have already had very popular anime releases)

I'm looking forward to the Slayers novels, which the anime was based on. VHD novels would be interesting, aswell. I wonder if they are better than the anime.

Don't forget the Seikai no Monshou and Seikai no Senki, Kino no Tabi, .hack//AI Buster, Fushigi Yuugi, etc etc.
We can all go out and buy the Slayers novel and pray that they release another one. But you must realise that Translating a book is a much longer and more difficult task than a comic and you don't get any more money out of it. Smaller target population as well. Definately don't hold your breath. (How much would you seriously pay for a book?) Cross your fingers though
