Heh remember reading the raws to this. The boy treats the girl like dirt lots of violence too. Laugh how the girl still love the dirt bag eventhough she was mistreated horribly.

ah, romance and Takashi Miike didn't sound right, but violence and possible misogyny... that's the Miike I know and ... not love, but....sometimes am able to stomach.

OK, I know he's done other themes and likes to defy genres... but there aren't many more directors better known for films containing violence towards women.
